Greetings from my vegetable garden with organically grown vegetables
Looking close... on Friday!#Combination of Soft & Sharp
At one point I felt like a serial zucchini killer.
Late yesterday afternoon while I was making Goats Cheese Tart with Zucchini Flowers for dinner, I got the idea for today's topic. In order not to throw away these flowers, I will make the tart again early this afternoon so that I can shoot it, because apart from being very tasty, it looks beautiful.
HLCoF!
I did not realize that zucchini is so fascinating...
The fruit is ready when the female zucchini flowers. You can harvest the flowers and the swollen zucchini attached to it as soon as you see those orange, yellow petals. The male flowers, however, are produced on long, thin stalks with no such swelling.
Beautiful, fresh zucchini from the Fall garden, your way!
Another big snow storm starting any minute now with 20 to 30 centimeters of snow & high winds! Not looking forward to it, YIKES!
Another zucchini ripening in the small garden of my mother-in-law :)
Kolejna cukinia, tym razem okrągła, na działce u mojej teściowej :)
The amazing thing about growing courgettes is that one day you’re there and you carefully count maybe 4 small courgettes growing, you tentatively pick one for the evening meal and think nothing of it.
The next day you return and find that you now have 7 marrows (overgrown courgettes)! This is when you start to find out who your true friends are! As there are some people who, having been had last year by a mighty narrow will start to cross the road when you start with “ would you like....”. I text another friend over the weekend and asked her “are you in, would you like a marrow” her reply was “only you would text with such a comment ” !!
There are thankfully many recipes for marrow from soup ( a firm favourite) to courgette quiche ( not tried that yet) to hiding it in an adapted bolognase. But despite all these recipes there are only so many ways that one can consume them!
This is a courgette flower which is edible too and might help solve some of the problems that we’ll encounter in a week or two , if we weren’t already overrun by this beautiful vegetable!
Thanks for stopping!
