This is my new apple corer and slicer., the old one broke. I use it for my daily breakfast apple. It came with tiny forks to eat the slices, quite a unique extra!

The bottle opener end of an older style but very reliable design of tin opener! Been using this design since a little kid and been through loads of them!

1735 m, Emilia Romagna

86 anni fa, nel luglio 1937, la posa della statua della Madonna di San Marco, patrona delle Valli di Taro e di Ceno.

Quasi una leggenda : una statua bronzea di 8 quintali di peso, 230 cm di altezza, da posare su un robusto basamento di serpentino nero (probabilmente proveniente dal monte Nero).

Era l'inverno 1937, quando a don Silvio Ferrari venne l'idea di collocare una statua della Madonna di San Marco sulla cima del monte Penna. " Ballera' tra cielo e terra, faro di luce sulle nostre vallate, dominerà quel mare Ligure, che tanti suoi figli hanno varcato per recarsi in terre lontane, proteggendoli".

Un ruolo fondamentale per la sua realizzazione lo ebbero i valligiani, i quali, nonostante il periodo di 'vacche magre: donarono centinaia di utensili di rame, bronzo, ottone, piombo, ghisa, alluminio. Furono accatastati oltre 10 quintali da fondere : pentole, campanelle, ferri da stiro, posate.... Oltre alle offerte dei nostri emigrati.

Per il trasporto a mano sul Penna furono coinvolte 150 persone.

Nell' opera furono coinvolte oltre 10000 persone, i cui nomi, racchiusi in 4 cassette di rame furono posti all'interno della statua
