Found this image while I was cleaning out the SD card, taken earlier of the year with the Fujifilm X-T20 (retired). The timestamp feature was broken (I dropped the camera during the blackout from the freaky winter freeze storm - felt like a century ago!) but it should be within 30 minutes after sunrise @6:51AM.

Happy Hump Day!

It's been a hot minute since I've uploaded something to my YouTube channel, but I hereby happily present my first vlog of 2018. Grab some popcorn and enjoy <3

This series is highlighting different aspects of street photography. Key aspects in this particular image are timestamp, culture, color.

At ”We’re Here!” today all the Hereios must answer the question, ”What are you Drinking?”

This being the traditional - and much dreaded - Tax Day in the USA, it was suggested that many of us might require a bracing restorative. Actually, because today is Sunday, and Monday is a holiday in Washington D.C. (Emancipation Day), taxes are due today, but postmarks and timestamps are not required until Tuesday. I myself was up last night until the wee hours of this morning consulting the IRS website. This was not because I waited until the last minute to file my tax return -- no, it was because my Grandson did. Sigh. But, we got it all figured out.

And, I am finding a nice bit of Bengal Spice Herbal Tea and toast to be both soothing and revivifying today.

Dug out an old holiday diary documenting a family trip to France when I was six. My Mum was a school teacher and made all her children keep a vacation journal. We found them in her office when we cleared her house last year. It's amazing how like ourselves we all were from a young age. My eldest brother, a surgeon, logged a complete accounting of daily events, complete with timestamps and a Dr's handwriting.

I complained about the hot weather and enjoyed nature.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

This Cooper's hawk appeared in the yard's bird bath and took up residence. It didn't seem to mind either cars or joggers on the street behind it. Our street is not a very active so not too much disturbance. The timestamps say it was there for ~10 minutes, even enough to get out the 1.4 extender for a bit closer look. As you can imagine there was little other activity during this time.

I don't have shot of its legs (skinnier for Sharp-shinned) nor any of its winged departure (different pace of wing beats for Cooper's vs Sharp-shinned). Both Seek and Merlin suggest Cooper's, head size and 'cap' or 'bonnet' seem inconclusive to my eye. I'll submit for those more expert than me.

"Mirage Gstaad" by Doug Aitken

In the tradition of land-art as a reflection of the dreams and aspirations projected onto the American West, "Mirage Gstaad" presents a continually changing encounter in which subject and object, inside and outside are in constant flux. With every available surface clad in mirror, it both absorbs and reflects the landscape around in such ways that the exterior will seemingly disappear just as the interior draws the viewer into a never-ending kaleidoscope of light and reflection. As "Mirage Gstaad" pulls the landscape in and reflects it back out, this classic one-story suburban house becomes a framing device, a perceptual echo-chamber endlessly bouncing between the dream of nature as pure uninhabited state and the pursuit of its conquest. Situated against the backdrop of Videmanette in Gstaad, "Mirage Gstaad" will bring the idea of the Manifest Destiny and the American West into contact with the European landscape and the tradition of the sublime.

Bern – Kirchenfeld Bridge

=> Wiki, Deutsch

The bridge was built by the engineers Moritz Probst and Jules Röthlisberger of the metal construction company Gottlieb Ott & Cie. Designed in Bern as a hingeless arch bridge in a riveted welded iron construction, built in 21 months and inaugurated on 24 September 1883.

It was the third bridge of this type in Switzerland. Previously, the Javroz Bridge at Charmey and the Black Water Bridge between Bern and Schwarzenburg were built in the same design.

Because of the financing by the English development company, the bridge was known by the vernacular until the end of the 19th century as the "English Bridge".

.

There is something that I like to share.

Those of you, who know me inside SL know, that I have an annonymous message board in my profile. You click the link and write, I dont know who the message is from.

Those are the latest 2 messages I have been receiving:

Number 1:

who would want to talk to you? get over yourself whore

Number 2:

you need to loosen up bitch

_

First of all, the use of a comma is important.

Now, I can't see a timestamp, but I checked 2 times within 15 minutes, the first time I checked, those messages werent there, 2nd time they suddenly were.

So... I know exactly where I was when I received the messages and of course, WHEN it was.

Weirdly, in that time, NO ONE messaged me - means, I had no problem with anyone at that time.

Also, either someone messaged me 2 times at the same time, writing 2 ugly messages or.. someone wrote me message 1 and asked their friend to do the same... for absolutely no reason.

So, 2 questions come up here:

Question 1:

Why not say it to my face when people have a problem with me.

To be honest, I assume I know who its from...

You dont like me? Fine! Mute my ass and its fine. You dont have to deal with me.

Question 2:

The whole world talks about cyber bullying and how we should all be more careful, be aware of the fact that there is a human behind this avatar and that some may not be able to deal with messages like that.

So what the fuck is this? Are some people really that jaded?

I am not saying that I care about a message like that, because I am not someone who takes bullshit like that personal if its not coming from someone with a face, who has the balls to message me but...

It is just not necessary.

You never know what you might cause with messages like that.

Can't we just be a little bit more aware of the things that maybe go on in peoples head?

Most of the messages I receive over the link are lovely, that's how it should be.

Also, its okay to critizise over that link, as long as its justified and grown up.

Grown up is the keyword here..... don't act like 13 years old.... It's a shame.

Top: That rainbow again. It was kind of huge and amazing.

Bottom-left: Swan at the Palace of Fine Arts in SF.

Bottom-right: View from a window at my dad's old house. He lived in the Canyon Rim area, and man, the views of sunsets were amazing over there. This is unedited, and it reminds me of those cheesy Thomas Kinkade paintings. Except with power lines.

(wiki)

Postcard from Dreamy Egypt (TM).

Timestamp: 1305 BC, Aug. 24, 11:03 AM

Dear colleagues, my last-minute time travel holiday to Dreamy Egypt exceeds all of my expectations! I have only just arrived and already I am liking it here! Wish you were here!

There is a strange light. Soothing. The air smells like lotus flowers, feels vegetarian and wraps itself around my head like a fluffy Cheshire Cat. I feel strangely light-headed and happy... I will absolutely not be returning to the office. Our department manager is a hairy-nosed wombat. The Head of HR should be fed to the lions! Daily!

There she is! The delightful ChinaGirl! I have only been here a few minutes and already I have encountered the famous ChinaGirl! I trust your deadlines are progressing well.

OMG, she is coming down the stairs. She is walking towards me. Sorry, no further time. Will she be...smiling?

Without cheating to see the timestamp on the photo, can you tell what time it is? Looks like it is almost midnight, right? This is the funniest part. It is actually almost 1 AM because they still follow daylight savings time despite the fact that the sun never sets!!!

Going from the bright and recent picture of one of Gainsborough's ALXs last time, here's a slightly older shot in the miserable darkness of early November, back during the time in which the last couple of 107s from Lincoln would leave at 'night'.

The timestamp on this photo is 17:17, so will be the 17:05 running just over ten minutes late, and 18348 is seen at the bottom of Norman Street as it begins its journey back to Gainsborough on 1.11.23

My impulse purchase of an iPad Pro today, 8th anniversary of Steve Jobs' passing, is kinda my small tribute to the man who changed our world. We can only wonder what other ways he would have changed our world if he were still with us. What a genius he was! (What I believe he would have done here) What else do you think Steve Jobs would have done to change this world?

I was in Lukla (Nepal) on my way back from a fun / successful trek to Everest basecamp when I learned of Steve Jobs' passing. The news was both shocking and saddening to me...as it was to millions around the globe.
