I dont see all that many car images here on Flickr & lately i'm in such a colourful spirit might as well get the ball rolling.
Tested with my new NV40 camera which i won in a photo competition.
Vrooooom !
Yes, I know - a rather blazé picture, yet I spent a fair amount of time putting this blasé scene together. Just a “challenge thing”, I guess.
The background picture (the car, the two walls and floor) I obtained from the internet. I think it might be copyrighted but what the hell - I’m not selling it!
This was more of a experiment and/or a challenge having to do with creating objects in Adobe Illustrator and then bringing these objects into Photoshop and try creating a believable lighting effect in the scene. I created the following in Illustrator: the lettering “AUBURN”, the Auburn shield, the picture frame around the “authentic” vintage Auburn advertising poster, the baseboard moulding (simulated Burl wood - my personal favorite of all types of woods which I have a very expensive shelving unit made from) and of course the ceiling light.
Oh I’m sure there can be a lot of critical comments made concerning this work but……… well, at this point, I really don’t care because how many small, vintage showrooms have people on flickr actually seen or been in. Let’s pretend the walls are actually lathe and plaster as opposed to sheetrock (or drywall). And then let’s pretend there’s a large plate glass window over on the far left, out of view, allowing a certain amount of outside light filtering in.
……….. and then let’s pretend one could actually buy this beautifully reconditioned 1929 Auburn convertible coupe (today) for $845 - then you may find the scene a little more appealing……….
Thanks for coming into my “showroom”…………..

For a car enthusiast there is nothing like a new car all shined up on a showroom floor. The Mazda Miata (MX-5) holds a special place for my husband and I......it was introduced in 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show....the year we met!

Just delivered from the Vulcan Foundry of G.E.C. Traction Ltd, 6-wheel diesel electric 262 'Loftus' (Works No.5431) stands outside the Teesside Works offices of the British Steel Company at Lackenby on 28th October 1977. One of the locomotives that would eventually be replaced by a fleet of these powerful 750hp locomotives has been despatched from the dept/workshop to collect it, namely Sentinel 0-4-0 diesel-hydraulic 99 (Works No.10099 built built in 1962). The General Electric loco was to see almost 35 years of service at the Lackenby/Redcar complex, and initially survived the cutter's torch, being acquired by Hartlepool dealer Ed Murray. It was stored on the Chasewater Railway until June 2017, when it was despatched to Sims Metals scrapyard at Newport, some forty years after it was built.

Living in Alabama, I've got very few slides of Canadian Pacific power and this undoubtedly is the cleanest one of their units I've ever lensed. Normally having zero reservations about shooting spotless power, there was a slight thought of "I flew out here to shoot the KCS looking like the KCS, not what this line might look like in a couple of years."
Most likely grain loads heading for the Gulf or Mexico interchanged off the CP at Kansas City, they've got 3 other CP and KCS GE units shoving on the rear for help up the many grades on the way south.
