2 giant statues of the jackal-headed Egyptian God Anubis holding an Ankh, a Was-Specter, decorated with hieroglyphics, artwork, and artifacts.

They are guarding the entrance to the "Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride" in the 'Ancient Egypt' themed section at the Universal Studios theme park in Singapore.

The 'Ancient Egypt' themed section is based on the historical adaptation of Ancient Egypt during the 1930s Golden Age of Egyptian Exploration.

God Anubis ( Egyptian Mythology ) -

Depicted as a jackal-headed god, Anubis was one of the most important gods in ancient Egyptian mythology, viewed with respect as the God of the Underworld.

Ankh ( Symbol from Egyptian Mythology ) -

The Ankh (key of life or the key of the Nile) is widely considered to be symbol of life. It sometimes represents related concepts such as air, water, immortality, creation or fertility.

Many Egyptian pharaohs have names with 'Ankh' in their names, the most famous being - King Tut-Ankh-Amon (King Tut).

The Was-Specter ( Egyptian Mythology ) -

In Egyptian methodology, the Was-Specter a.k.a. Tscham-Specter was usually depicted as being carried by pharaohs/deities and Gods as a symbol of power, dominion and an emblem of authority.

It is also considered to be associated with wealth and happiness.

Universal Studios Singapore is Southeast Asia’s first and only Universal Studios theme park.

pp: Not a 'Topazlab' or 'Photomatix' processing. Just blending with layers on "Multiply" & "Soft Light" toying with opacity to the desired effect with some selective highlight & hue saturation to complete the line.

I know Sony is trying to generate HDR straight out from their new range of cams. May be useful for those without Photoshop skills. But in-camera processing will definitely slow down your buffer speed when shooting. I would rather do the processing in photoshop where you can really control the effect you desire. Perhaps some day the technology may improve.

Good thing there is no perfection results straight off the cam yet, otherwise I would be out of work...

Source from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Universal Studios Singapore is a new theme park located within Resorts World Sentosa on Sentosa Island, Singapore. It was a key component of Genting's bid for the right to build Singapore's second integrated resort. It was announced on 8 December 2006 by the Singapore government that the consortium had won the bid and construction of the theme park and the rest of the resort then started on 19 April 2007. It's the second Universal Studios to open in Asia and the first in Southeast Asia. The official plans for the park were unveiled to the public when Universal Studios Singapore released a map of the park to the public on 20 October 2009.[1]

Universal Studios Singapore was opened for sneak peek week in view of the Chinese New Year Celebrations, from 5pm to 9pm every night between 14 to 21 February, 2010.[2] The whole park was opened but none of the rides were operational. Visitors had to pay SGD10 to get into the park. Park tickets for the week were sold out in 2 days. On 05 March 2010, it was announced that the park will start opening on 8:28am (UTC+8) 18 March, 2010, for a soft-opening phase. From 13 March, 2010 the team members of Resorts World Sentosa and their families can start visiting the park before the public has a chance to do so.[3]

Its competitor Resorts World Sentosa has already beaten them in the opening. But with their compact facilities and strategic location, Marina Bay Sands should become the front runner in attracting visitors to Singapore when it opens. Another dynamic landmark addition to the bay.

With Singapore's two new Casinos (Marina Bay Sands & Resorts World Sentosa) already in operation, it's time for the Fountain of Wealth to really show its colors and be put to the test. For gamers who wish to try their luck at the casinos your luck may turn for the better with a visit to the Fountain of Wealth at Suntec City. Let us know if the results are credible! While there don't miss the exciting light display happening every evening from 8 to 9pm.

About The Fountain of Wealth:

The Fountain of Wealth (Chinese: 财富之泉) is listed by the Guinness Book of Records in 1998 as the largest fountain in the world. It is located in one of Singapore's largest shopping malls, Suntec City.

During certain periods of the day, the fountain is turned off and visitors are invited to walk around a mini fountain at the centre of the fountain's base for good luck. At night, the fountain is the setting for laser performances, as well as "live" song and laser message dedications between 8pm to 9pm daily. It is situated in such a way the fountain is the hub of the shopping mall. Source: wikipedia

After hearing the news of their opening date, I went to have a peep on Resorts World Sentosa thinking that it's close to finishing touches. To my surprise, the place is still far from completion. With only 2 weeks to opening heavy construction works is still in progress. I really don't think it's a wise move to open so soon. The safety of visitors may be at risk. file: Sentosa4255593863.jpg

pp: Applying "Multiply" & "Soft Light" on layers to bump up details & colors. Opacity on layers depends on you own judgement. I just wanted it to be more colorful being a tourist destination. Finish off straightening the distorted building with warp tool. This is done without Photomatix or Topazlab, meaning you can still get those effects just by applying photoshop blending modes correctly.
