IS THE DIFFERENCE AS REVS CAP WILD COMEBACK WIN
The York Revolution surged back in the late innings for a wild, 9-7 come-from-behind victory over Frederick Baseball Club on Saturday night in front of 5,371 fans at WellSpan Park. Trailing most of the night, York grabbed the lead on a dramatic go-ahead grand slam home run by Jacob Rhinesmith in the seventh. After Frederick drew even, Tomo Otosaka’s bases loaded double in the bottom of the eighth provided the difference. The Revs (20-13) maintain a half game lead for first place in the North Division, having won seven consecutive games, one shy of matching a franchise record.

It was a grand opening at newly-renamed WellSpan Park as the York Revolution shut out the Staten Island FerryHawks, 4-0 on Friday night in front of 5,868 fans on-hand for the Revs’ home opener. Starter Nick Raquet (2-0) was dominant and record-setting, combining on the shutout.
The Revs got things going early against FerryHawks starter Jordan Simpson (0-1), scoring a run in the second inning for an early lead. Singles from Troy Stokes Jr. and Jacob Rhinesmith set the table as Stokes Jr. went first-to-third on Rhinesmith’s hit, and scored on a Jalen Miller sacrifice fly to deep left field making it 1-0, Revs.

Citizen Journalism (9:30-5:00)
As the decline of newspapers is felt throughout the country, could media centers be the new model for local news? Could Citizen Journalism be an opportunity for community media centers like PEGs to earn income, create trained citizen reporters, build partnerships, and serve up local content?
These and other topics will be discussed during this one day pre-conference designed for community media staff, volunteers, journalists, academics, concerned citizens, and others interested in launching, sustaining, or participating in a hyper-local citizen journalism project. Experts in the field from across the country will present their citizen journalism experiments and share emerging best practices during the session. The ultimate goal of this one-day session is to provide practical solutions to critical questions that will help individuals and organizations develop and sustain successful citizen journalism projects. We hope this pre-conference session will set the stage for the Citizen Journalism Track at the conference.

See the "Jay Rosen on Open Source Journalism" video. [ QuickTime ]
On Monday, November 13th at 4:00 p.m. EST, Jay Rosen was at The Berkman Center at Harvard to talk about Open Source journalism and his new project, www.newassignment.net I interviewed him after his talk. Open Source has worked in software, but can it work in journalism? Can it break news? Can it tell big important stories? Can the advantages of the bazaar come to the cathedral of investigative reporting? NewAssignment.Net will try to find out. Here's the video of Jay's complete talk, produced by Colin Rhinesmith. Recently Rebecca Mackinnon spoke about starting a new media workshop in Hong Kong! You don't even have to be in Cambridge at Harvard to attend these sessions... You can even watch in Second Life... It's cool that the Berkman Center at Harvard is inviting the world into these sessions... Previous sessions are archived over at Media Berkman: blogs.law.harvard.edu/mediaberkman/ This video was originally shared on blip.tv
