When we add a cat to to our family, it is with the realization that their time with us will be only as long as it is...
Losing Quinn was devastating - made us feel that we could not go through such an experience again. Then (as we always do) we checked the Animal Shelter to see if anyone might need us, hence Charlie and Marcel :-)
Happy Caturday ❤️

Southern Pacific 8935 leads eastbound merchandise through the Tehachapi Mountains near Marcel, California.
This particular train had two sets of manned helpers, and the first set can be discerned on a distant curve through the exhaust and heat distortion.
Doug's photography on Tehachapi is exceptional, and appears to be molded in the style of Steve Schmollinger, a talented photographer who literally published a book on this legendary mountain pass.
Marcel Breuer’s brutalist masterwork for American Tyre company has been converted to a very tasteful hotel self powered by onsite PV panels.
BNSF 7076 East with the assistance of four other units shoot exhaust skyward as they claw their way to the summit roughly 12 miles ahead.

Marcel Marceau: The Cage (1975) [Encyclopaedia Britannica]
The small village of Saint-Marcel-Campes, is little known to the people of Tarn, yet it had a great past history.
Before the Crusade against the Albigensians, Saint-Marcel was a prosperous city and the key to this region. Indeed, Cordes did not yet exist... The church is mentioned from the 10th century and the castle from the 11th.
The lordship of Saint-Marcel was located on the border between Rouergue, Quercy and Albigeois. The counts of Toulouse and Trencavel disputed it.
In 1212 the Crusade led by Simon de Montfort besieged Saint-Marcel where the Occitan army was entrenched. It was after many battles that Saint-Marcel was taken by the crusaders.
The population of Saint-Marcel and the surrounding area took refuge in the nearby Mordagne puech. To regulate this new population center, Raimon VII founded the city of Cordes in 1222.
Saint-Marcel gradually falling into oblivion.
