Haley loves arts and crafts and she couldn't stop nagging me to buy her a Rainbow Loom.

Cookies from a bakery in Chelsea Market. :) Last full day in NYC. Making the best of it! I will miss you, city that never sleeps! :P

Woke up at 6am.

Snoozed until 6:45. :P

Got ready and left for class to cram for the darn quiz.

Took the quiz, didn't fail... actually, I did pretty well considering the amount of time I (didn't) studied for it. (that's shameful)

Sent a postcard to Sababa, then went to Starbucks to spend the rest of my dining dollars :) A little gift to someone! haha.

Went back and sat in on a seminar given by Cheryl B. Engelhardt - a singer/songwriter who is making it in New York City. She is a sweet, funny, genuine, NYC girl :) Glad to have met her!

She performed for us and talked about her passion for music and how she made her life into a business, and all the tough choices she had to make.

Some specific things I learned include:

[1] Have an ultimate goal you want out of your passion.

[2] Use every resource you can - don't be afraid to ask if someone offers.

[3] Be true to your word - do what you say you will.

[4] Drop that ego - sometimes the right choice isn't always the best choice.

[4] If you are really passionate about something, believe in yourself that you won't "burn out".

She sang beautifully, made me want to sing along even though I have never heard her songs before haha. Wish I still knew how to play the piano/keyboard or any instrument for that matter!

Afterward, a few of us helped move her stuff to her car and she gave us her CD for free! :) Definitely will listen to that baby! woot!

Ate at Kimmel for lunch, went to say my farewells to Laurel at the CMEP. Then walked back to the dorms with the girls.

Chilled, got ready to go meet up with people at the famous Apple Store on Fifth Ave. Played with the iPhone 4... that thing is too legit to quit! Prayed that I would be rich enough to be an Apple maniac one day and buy everything I want in that store... haha.

Left with Dani to Chelsea Market. Got delicious Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, then had Chicken Pot Pie soup (which combination and order of digesting huh? :P) then Dani and I parted our ways...

I headed to the Museum of Natural History by myself because I didn't want to miss out on that before I leave this city. One thing I really wish I could do is be able to afford to give the actual amount (if not more) of the suggest donation. This museum was $16 for adults but I only donated $2 today. Maybe someday I can go back and actually contribute what I the museum deserves! :) Walked around... took lots of pictures, played with the manual settings on my camera (still haven't used the new lenses yet). Got super tired within an hour so I decided to head home.

On my way back to the dorm, I stopped by The Strand Bookstore to check out this "18 miles of books" :) Looked for Nicholas Sparks books, wanted to buy them all but I know better than that! Then looked for photography books and wondered if I would every get published.

"Photography is an expensive hobby."

Too bad it's not just a hobby for me huh? :P But that's darn right... photography sure as hell is expensive!

Got back, chilled then went to dinner with Dani at S'mac. Got the Cheeseburger Mac and Cheese. Delicious :) Glad I got to try it. Thieny went to Shake Shack and I wanted to try that too but probably not going to happen since I have going to Philly tomorrow with Ligia for the day (10am-10pm?). Philly cheesesteak! :)

Walked back from dinner, got figs and blueberries (probably for the last time in NYC) and just chilled in the room.

People in the program want to go out or do something tonight... but doesn't look like anything is going down. We will see :)

Thought of the day:

So this girl/singer/Cheryl has almost "made it" as a singer/songwriter/musician because of all of the effort she has put into branding herself and letting other people see and follow her through her passion.

I think it's time I do a little something something... for publicity, for entertainment, for fun, for me :)

In the bookstore, I was reading the brief summaries of many Nicholas Sparks books/movies and "Message in a Bottle" was stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

This is a long shot, just thought of this idea less than 10 minutes ago... but I love arts and crafts so I know this will be fun.

I want to print every single photo from my 365 (so far), put each of them in a separate bottle (any bottle that I can begin collecting NOW, haha.) with a little message in each, then put the bottles all over LA (the beach, westwood, hollywood, SGV, SM, campus, dorms, anywhere) and whoever finds them will get a little message from me, with my contact info and link... then maybe 1 out of 20 (if I'm lucky...) will actually check out my project or whatever. Maybe they'll even begin to follow me :)

I know this is very ambitious of me, but I believe this is definitely doable at a low monetary cost.

I don't want anything in return at all - or at least not yet. I just want people to find out about my project, and maybe (hopefully) start following it!

Cheryl's goal for her music is to inspire others.

My goal for my photos is to help others grow from the bad times, and never forget the good times. I want to refresh memories so that we can all remember how beautiful life is meant to be.

What do you think?

Will you help me? :)

Thank you Andrew Morales & Mini Me :) I really appreciate it!

Locks of Love at Pont des Arts in Paris.

I decided to leverage off my visit to the Arc Hotel and speak to another member of the photo shoot team.

Meet Katherine the Floral Designer at the event. She walked past me with an armful of flowers and said hello and promised she would be back to chat.

A native of Newport the third largest city in Wales U.K. Newport is located in South Wales, as kids we would vacation in North Wales as it was in reasonable driving distance from our home in Liverpool, fond memories indeed.

Katherine actually followed her parents to Canada, as she was reluctant to move to the Great White North, that, as they say is water under the bridge now. She has made a life here in Ottawa with her husband and nine month old baby.

Always an artistic individual but pragmatic nonetheless, she loved Arts & Crafts but decided that her career choices may be limited, so she graduated from Ottawa's Carleton University with a degree in Biology.

A career in Commercial Real Estate didn't pan out. Meanwhile Katherine took a part-time position at Bloomfield's Florist in Ottawa's Glebe neighbourhood and her creative juices started to flow.

About a year ago she started her own Floral Studio - Pollen Nation

www.wearepollennation.com

She runs her business out of her studio rather than a traditional retail storefront, this helps with operating costs but also invokes a much more creative environment for her and her clients. The emphasis is on Weddings, Celebratory Events and Corporate Services, however if you need to make things up with your significant other, Katherine can help you out.

She will also come to your home to provide a private workshop to teach you how to create the perfect floral masterpiece. This is a great idea for a social gathering with your friends.

Katherine has a wonderful outgoing personality, perfect for the floral business, she makes full use of Social Media to promote her business. Pollen Nation has worked with a number of high profile corporate clients including, Starbucks, Lululemon, Lux Event Rentals etc. they also do photo shoots such as todays' event to further her creative spirit.

Thank you Katherine it was wonderful to make your acquaintance, I wish you all the very best for the future.

NOTE: I had emailed the photographs to Katherine, she was extremely gracious in her response. Thank you for that Katherine.

Bio:

Stephanie Lindsay is a mixed media and found object artist who has lived in Northern California most of her life. She was a happily free-range kid, exploring the neighborhood under construction or the beach or campground with her nose to the ground, coming back with pockets full of seeds, pebbles, washers, and odd bits of wire.

She has always been keenly creative and loved arts and crafts in high school and made many types of utilitarian crafts throughout her life, particularly quilts, when not reading or gardening.

Her deeper pursuit of art began in earnest after 15 years of working in technical communication with robotics, to find some balance alongside the analytical work and to reestablish a relationship with her intuitive side. She started very small, exchanging handmade 2.5 x 3.5” artist trading cards online. Through Northern California Arts, Inc and the Sacramento Fine Arts Center she met many wonderful artists and entered a number of local shows where her work has been well received.

To build a stronger foundation for her art practice going forward, Stephanie is taking classes at Sierra College alongside her current career, working towards a second degree in studio art. She is particularly interested in abstract sculpture and land art. She already holds a bachelor’s in geography, and dreams of pursuing an MFA in interdisciplinary studies. All of her varied interests and experiences inform her current work.

Artist Statement:

Abluvio is Latin for erosion. Abluvion means forgotten, rare, obsolete, and literally “that which is washed off.” All of my pieces in this exhibit include found objects, each one unique, each one obsolete in relation to its original purpose.

Most of these objects were gathered on my walks in empty lots, alongside the tracks, and in the forgotten spaces between places. Again and again I filled my pockets (and sometimes my backpack) with stones, twigs, oak galls, bits of broken clay and china, bent nails, rusted washers, broken bricks, and the like.

These objects have been washed off, and then given a new context and purpose. I am drawn to the subtle colors and forms that appear as erosion rounds the edges of brick and mortar, sunburns stones, and rusts metal back into earth. Each piece was inspired by the possibilities I saw in the characteristics of the objects I found. I challenged myself for this exhibit by trying new things, including carving wood, adding color with encaustic wax, and working at both larger and smaller scale than I have done previously.

"I've been suffering since I was a child. Nobody would listen to me. For years I was telling them that there was something wrong with me. One day at work, the company bully pushed me a little too far and I went over the edge. I slit my wrist. It took that incident, and hospitalisation, to get me diagnosed - Depression and Schizophrenia. That was in 2001 and I haven't been able to work since. My psychiatrist says I'll probably never work again. I find Art to be very therapeutic. I also take photos, this is one of mine."

When you try to distract yourself with something like Arts, if you love Arts, it'll work magically!

I love Arts, i feel i'm an artist but i've never tried painting before!

Well, i tried to help my sister before, but it was nothing more than some touched on her canvas!

This one i made it all by myself, using PASTEL colors, i didn't imagine the picture, i saw a photo and i tried to simulate it, and here is the results!

Do you think i have some Artist potentials ? =P

*Suddenly realized the focus is absolutely awful!!! LoL.

for the sake of art....I did use my liquid eyeliner that's about to expire...actually really expired already!

It was last nigh, I'm still in the office,...doing some finances, when I get bored and reminisce things in my childhood...(whereas I could paint, draw, sit around the corner and sketch things in front of me, several entries I did for my school during elementary...'til I've got some crayons in my desk...lika a kid, I did try to sketch again...my favorite subject in a piece of bond paper...removing my tiredness...I forgot the time...and just draw & draw & draw...I love arts!...I think it just that I love colors,...something unique and my mi nd travels fast...faster I could imagine...to the places I wanted to be...and have ever been into...I wanted to explore....blah,...blah,...blah!!!

There you go....after crayon...I look at myself in the mirro..so tired after the sleepless night weeks,...loaded of stuff...and health problems I've got...I'm loosing weight & couldn't imagine...my pounds in weight right now...I even got an accident last weekend and did confine in the hospital for overnight....but people around seems not to care...but not all...I've got other true friends who really care!

I have to work still!

So,...I may say things related in my subject here....but through randomness...I'm standing up again,...gaining some respect in myself!

I don't want other people to degrade myself anymore...I made this concept....using that liquid eyeliner I'm sharing in the above statements.

Funny, I couldn't even make any expression with this "liquid thing-make up" in my face...'coz it might removed then...

so...I'm happy for the new concept I've got!

Thanks then flicker buddies through all the support and comments in my previous shots/portrait/project!

I could say...I'm continuing this journey..with much awaited spices, colors, surprises, challenges here!

Bare with me...yet please beware, too!

Meet Troy. Troy is my 5-year-old son diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Mixed language delay, and Sensory integration difficulties. Troy’s daily routine involves playing with his pets, going to preschool, playing with his brother, practicing his fine motor skills and enforcing self care. Troy is not very social and likes to play by himself and enjoys independent activities. Troy is not fully potty trained and wears diapers, he is more dependent on his parents than most children his age and requires lots of guidance and constant monitoring or he gets into mischief and wanders. Troy is a very happy child in spite of his developmental delays.

Technical: ƒ/6.3 30.0 mm 1/100 1600, POF of child, Natural light through window on side and behind subject, 9:00 am

Composition: 3 ft. away from subject, camera angled parallel to subject.

Content: Troy rarely sits at the table to eat breakfast, but with the help of a toy (Alvin), Troy is regulating his activity and focusing on eating his eggs for breakfast.

1.I am a mechanical engineer by profession and an ordinary student in the University of Life.

2.I like learning; I don’t want to be stocked up. I hate of being so complacent.

3.I can offer everything I have; I am not a selfish person and I am not expecting something in return.

4.Adjust don’t react. This is my daily reminder. If I will be more reactive in every situation I am dealing with, 90% of my day will be messed up!

5.I used to read books, motivational books that can lift me up. Bible is the best book I have ever read. His word is a lamp to my feet and a lamp to my path.

6.I really love arts. I am a musician by heart(guitar is my best buddy), artist by hand(like to do landscape and charcoal paintings) and photographer by sight(inspired by all my flickr friends).

7.My first camera was a disposable one, bought by my high school teacher for me for a photojournalism contest. Sad to say I did not win.

8.I love my family very much that is why I am here(qatar). I am so thankful because I am capable to extend my support for them in every way.

9.I am living in a purpose driven life. Life is tough but being tough in life is far more important.

10.Last but most important, I still don’t know how to use my camera. I just bought it. Peace

Love locks of Paris

My cat loves arts and craft time. I was making an advent calendar, and she came over to join the fun and lay all over my stuff.

My thirteen year old cousin Tiffany loves arts and crafts and there is NO way I could've made the dream of Thanksgiving hats a reality without her. She helped with the Native American headdresses and made both of the turkey hats entirely on her own. I was so impressed with how they turned out! It was a lot of fun hanging out with her while we worked on them, too. I guess that's what Thanksgiving is all about.

THE 우리 LADIES

Welcome to our crafts collection flickr space! We are Wendy, Jennifer and Minami; three cousins who love arts, fashion, culture, travel and our Mother Earth. 우리 is our creative expression project to highlight the beauty of art on Mother Earth.

After school, Meadow likes to spend her time drawing sketches. Not only does Meadow love to draw, but she also loves arts and crafts. She will spend hours on a sketch, and many times makes sketches for her family. Meadow finds that sketching lets her unwind after a long day of learning. At school, she has even received artist of the month a few times.

I like how I took the photo at the same level that my subject is at. I dislike the shadows that are casted on the wall behind her. If I could change anything, I would have tried to crop in closer to minimize the distractions in the background.
