A pair of West Coast Rail class 37's on their trip to York where a steam loco takes over and they head to Scarborough. Taken here because its on an incline so the locos have to work hard at this point. York road can be seen in the background

Bought second hand from ICI, at very low mileage, for a local shunting job that didn't warrant a new lorry, the 8LXB-engined motor served for several years before being sold onto John Killingbeck for further service
In the reserved center track..Seacroft Hospital in the background, and the spoil heap of the exhausted Killingbeck Colliery on the horizon.

5690 Leander at Killingbeck on what I think was a York - Harrogate - Leeds - Hartlepool. 9 August 2010.
Here I go again. This image was originally pioneered and taken by my friend Brian Killingbeck. I really liked the image so I attempted it last year. I had moderate results because on the day we visited the cave, rain from a thunderstorm made a bunch of foam on the water surface flawing the reflection. Last weekend, conditions were perfect. I am very happy with the results.
Cummins powered Atkinson Venturer 6x4 tractor unit LCK480N- a T4566C model designation - which was new to Pandoro/P&O and is seen leaving Shrewsbury Steam Rally at Onslow Park.
This lorry has taken a few incarnations over its 50year life, with different cabs, engines and hauling configurations so it was great to catch this in the twilight in its recently returned to tractor unit form.
Hauling its first passenger train for 20 years, Colas Rail Freight 56087 is seen powering out of Leeds at Killingbeck with 'The Scarborough Spa Express' working 1Z21 Carnforth to Scarborough. The tour is normally hauled by a WCRC locomotive, but due to Colas being short of drivers WCRC drivers are being trained on 56s to cover a shortage at Colas.

Yes, really, a Defender! John Killingbeck rebuilt this 8-legger into a 38T tractor unit in the mid-1980s, and it became one of the few to escape intact after completing its service with Killingbeck, being rebuilt for further service with John Jardine of Wishaw.
John's motors were always turned out to a very high standard, although this one didn't last very long with him, and was replaced by a Borderer converted for 38T operation with the addition of a tag axle and a Cummins 320 engine.
I took this photo at the Cheshire Steam Fair at Grappenhall, and where there was a factory-supported Seddon Atkinson gathering for many years. John Jardine was a regular attendee
York Pullman took on the work of Acaster Malbis-based Just Travel in late December after it ceased trading. This includes school transport, coach bookings, and a handful of irregular public service routes. The lattermost are a network of free services for Asda Killingbeck, and Mondays-only rural services 495 and 496.
B10BLE V207EBV is seen as it crosses the Selby Canal at West Haddlesey with the 10:20 Fairburn-Selby 496. The 495/6 duty commences in Tadcaster on the 495 at 09:30, reaching Selby at 09:45 having travelled via Towton, Saxton, Barkston Ash, Church Fenton, Little Fenton, and Biggin. The vehicle then runs dead to Fairburn to pick up the 496, which operates back to Selby via Brotherton, Burton Salmon, Hillam, Monk Fryston, Gateforth, and West Haddlesey. The return 495 departs Selby at 12:15, with the return 496 following at 14:00. The B10BLE depicted appears to be the regular vehicle, presumably starting and ending it's working day on the Manor School working denoted by the card in the window at the start. It was new to Blackburn Transport in October 1999 and later passed to Transdev before being purchased by Pullman in 2014 for use on Dalesbus and school workings.
A temporary addition to the York Pullman fleet is that of Alexander Dennis Enviro 200MMC YX17 NXA, a short wheelbase version which has been fitted with "Smart Pack"... the official explanation is that this is a “driveline efficiency package combining electric cooling and smart accessories, where alternators and compressors only draw power when the engine is in coast”. It has currently been running routes new to Pullman who have taken over work from Just Travel which closed down near the end of 2017 due to family issues - in the first week this bus has been on the Asda Killingbeck shuttles in Leeds, though for week 2 it has been running Tadcaster school services. After a busy day I was heading past and spotted this about to get a wash and so grabbed a photo of it being washed and then another once parked up... this also gave me opportunity to use my new tripod, as the bus wash area is only lit from the building behind so I had to set my camera to a 10-second delay and then whizz my bike around the corner with my headlight on full beam to illuminate this side of the bus; and the back of the depot is completely unlit where the bus was parked up so I had to use my bike to light it up again. The livery is certainly rather attractive on this, and I'd like to see this on the 36 or 37 (on a saturday) before its' loan period is finished.
The location is hardly remarkable, nor is the angle very inspired, but the number of steam specials that take this route is very small, so it is worthy of a visit, and photo spots are few and far between on this section. The train is the Lune Rivers Trust excursion from Carnforth to York, delayed by 24 hours to avoid strike action. The train left Carnforth 57 minutes down, but was only about 15 minutes late here, due no doubt to vigorous assistance from the diesel at the rear.
The 11th of June 1962 at Killingbeck and Class 40 D253 is on a down express about to take the Wetherby line towards Newcastle.
The loco was new from the Vulcan Foundry to York North in January 1960 and still based there at this time.
The loco was an early withdrawl as 40053 in June 1976 with collision damage and cut up at Crewe Works the following November.

MVD 432L is an Atkinson twin-steer artic, restored in the livery of G & K Dodds of Sutton near Thirsk. New as a 4x2 unit with Monklands Motors, Airdrie in 1973, it passed to W & J Riding, Preston two years later. During the mid-1980s, it was acquired by Killingbeck, Preston where it was rebuilt to its present Chinese Six configuration.
Atkinson didn’t offer a ‘Chinese Six’ version of the Borderer but at least one operator made such a conversion. This fictional image is based on MVD 432L, which began life as a conventional two-axle Atkinson Borderer in the fleet of Monkland Motors of Airdrie in 1973 and was sold, two years later, to W&J Riding in Lancashire. It was acquired by John Killingbeck of Blackburn in 1984, who transformed it into a 6x2 tractor unit. It survives in preservation with haulier G &K Dodds of Sutton in North Yorkshire. In this fictional rendition, it carries the livery of long-established Scottish haulier McFadyens Transport of Campbeltown (21-Apr-23).

33207 and 33025 are seen powering through Killingbeck on the run out of Leeds with 1Z21 0818 Carnforth - Scarborough "Scarborough Spa Express". The 33s worked as far as Holgate Sidings where steam traction took over for the run to Scarborough.
This Atkinson Venturer Reg No LCK 480N was registered new to Pandoro of Fleetwood in June 1975.
Powered by a Cummins 290 engine it is seen here hauling a low-loader with two large drums of electric cable on board.
After it's life at Pandoro LCK 480N was sold on to John Killingbeck of Blackburn, see below, who replaced the Cummins 290 with a Gardner 8LXB, along with a pair of 2-speed axles.
