Taken on Fomapan 100 with the slightly scarce Ihagee West Exakta TL500, this time wearing a Pentax f4 300mm. Hand held, sat propped up against a wall in very windy conditions, I didn't really think I would get away with this and this is about the only one of three that wasn't noticeably shaky. Rather like the lens and its in lovely condition... sadly it will have to be sold now.

Another shot from the Exakta 500TL on Kentmere 100, processed in 510 Pyro. This camera is a sort of Japanese made Praktica (Ihagee... it's a long story). This was a Carl Zeiss Jena 50mm with a hint of fungus, but actually not doing too badly. The intense reflections on the water further downstream and deep shadow was probably a lot to ask of Kentmere and the lens, but I was reasonably pleased with the outcome.

As we look into the sun.

Kentmere 100 in the Exakta Ihagee West TL500 (a sort of Japanese built Praktica). I tried again with 510 Pyro as the developer, but following a slightly different protocol and using Digital Truth's Massive Dev Chart app for the times. This was a semi stand development. Results were very different. 510 Pyro seems to suit this film and the negatives looked lovely, without the reported blotches I had seen before. Contrast was increased during scanning as there wasn't bucket loads of it, but I wouldn't expect it for this film and this lens.

See all the things we haven't done...

Some output from the Exakta 500TL on Kentmere 100. When I film test a camera for the first time, if possible I will try and give it some demanding light situations to deal with.

This camera was more enjoyable to use than I expected. The only real problem was the metering. To meter you press a button that operates the aperture and meter. That is okay if a little slow. If you are metering around f11 upwards, you then have a pretty dark viewfinder and in lower light actually seeing the meter needle is quite difficult. Sometimes I found myself opening the aperture a couple of stops to meter, then closing and calculating the exposure in my head. All good fun of course.

Another shot from a roll of Kentmere shot on the Exakta TL500, developed in 510 Pyro. This is a beach dried decaying tree trunk with a large beach stone trapped in on of the gaps. I see the face of a marine mammal surfacing and taking the stone in it's mouth. What do you see?
