Hazūr Sāhib "presence of the master", also spelled Hazoor Sahib, more called as Takht Sachkhand Shri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib and also known as Abchal Nagar, is one of the five takhts ("thrones", seats of temporal authority) in Sikhism. It is located on the banks of the River Godavari at the city of Nanded in the state of Maharashtra, Western India. It is where the 10th guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji completed his last breath. The gurudwara within the complex is known Sach-Khand "Realm of Truth".

The structure is built at the place of death of Guru Gobind Singh. The inner room of the gurdwara is called the Angitha Sahib and is built over the place where Guru Gobind Singh was cremated in 1708. The construction of the gurdwara was done from 1832 to 1837 by order of Maharaja Ranjit Singh (1780–1839).

Nihang (pronounced Nee-hung) (also: called Akalis) is an armed Sikh order. Early Sikh military history is dominated by the Akali Sikh military order particularly for many famous military victories won while often heavily out-numbered. The Akalis have historically been held in great affection and respect by Sikhs due the pivotal role they have played in Sikh history and Sikh military history in particular.

The Nihang order is today mostly ceremonial because it is peacetime in India but in times of war, the Akalis have historically spear-headed the attack on the enemies of the Sikh religion.

Hazūr Sāhib (Punjabi ਹਜੂਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ hazūrī sāhib from Arabic الصاحب‎ حضور ḥaḍūr al-ṣāḥib "presence of the master"), also known as Abchal Nagar, is one of the five takhts ("thrones", seats of temporal authority) in Sikhism. It is located on the banks of river Godavari in Nanded (Maharashtra, Western India). The gurdwara within the complex is known as Sach-Khand (Realm of Truth).

The inner room of the gurdwara is called the Angitha Sahib and is built over the place where Guru Gobind Singh was cremated in 1708. The construction of the gurdwara was initiated in 1832 to be completed in 1837 under the aegis of Maharaja Ranjit Singh (1780-1839).

This beautiful painting was photographed in the langar hall at Hazoor Sahib.

I've never seen this picture anywhere before; therefore i felt compelled to get a snap of it.

Little sikh boy at Hazur sahib wanted to play with the sleepy baby. But the baby was more interested in sleeping.

Gurdwara Nanakpuri Sahib. One of the local Gurdwaras near Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib. (India, Maharashtra).

These are Guru Nanak Dev Ji's wooden sandles (kharanva?)

After Guru Granth Sahib ji put to rest (sukhasan), and when the shastar darshan finishes in the evening, some sangat gather outside (like above), and do simran with the sevadars whilst walking around the Gurdwara surroundings.

Also, some sangat sit outside and listen to viakhya from the sevadars. Oh yeah, some head back to their rooms and call it a day =D

Hazur Sahib has a special bus service that takes you on a one day Guided Tour to all of them.

Loved my stay there for 2days. Pls. do not visit nanded city during summer - its Above 45 Degree Celsius unbearable heat

One of the five takhts (most sacred) of Sikhism. A true sikh is supposed to visit Hazur Sahib before he reaches the age of 60 years. This is the place where 10th Guru Shri Gobind Singh Ji completed his last breath.

More information about Shri Hazur Sahib is available at official website.

This is the sword of Akali Baba Phoola Singh Ji being shown at Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib.

The great Sikh General, Jathedar Akali Phoola Singh, was born in 1761. His father Ishar Singh was fatally wounded during the great massacre of Sikhs (Wada Ghalughara) in 1762. Before his death he charged Bhai Narain Singh of Misl Shaheedan with the responsibility of raising his infant son.

Akali Ji, by the age of ten, could recite Nitnem and other Gurbani hymns. At Anandpur Sahib, he always kept himself busy doing sewa or reading Gurbani, and he became very popular with the sangat. Because of his scholastic attitude and commitment to Panthic welfare, he was made the leader (Jathedar) of the Misl after the death of Bhai Narain Singh. In 1800, he came to Amritsar and made the Mahants improve the management of the Gurdwaras. The major credit for extending the boundaries of the Sikh Raj goes to Akali Ji, the legendary general of the Sikhs.

This is the picture of the entire gurudwara complex of Takht Sachkhand Shri Hazur Sahib at Nanded in Maharashtra. It is one of the holiest of shrines for the Sikhs and is one of the five "Takhts" or seats.

This is actually a panorama created by joining about 6 - 7 images and honestly the credit should go to Adobe Photoshop CS2 because there isn't anything that i did to stitch them together. I just clicked them in sequence. The clouds though surely helped in even distribution of light.

Here you can see Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Kalgi (centre), along with swords, guns, and other weapons.

Jathedar Kulwant Singh Ji is doing paath (prayers) in the background.

Above is Jathedar Kulwant Singh ji of Takht Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded, Maharashtra (India).

I took this snap in the evening when he does paath (prayers(I believe Sukhmani Sahib)) inside the 'special room' which is the area where Guru Gobind Singh Ji left for his heavenly abode . Only the Jathedar is allowed inside and thus is responsible for maintaining everything inside it.

When I took this he was walking around the room and greeting the sangat through all 4 doors, before resuming his paath. =)

This picture was taken from the inside of Gurdwara Hazoor Sahib on the ground floor.

Jathedar Kulwant Singh Ji of Takht Sri Hazur Sahib.

Once he gets changed he comes and sits in this room and gives out prashaad (sweets in above shot!!!) to sangat . It's an opportunity for the sangat to ask him any questions they have etc. and have their photo taken with him.

The Jathedar looks so different when he's dressed down and doesn't have the material covering his face!

In the early hours of the morning (1.30am) the above Singh, escorted predominately by young Sikhs, marches all the way to the nearby Godavari River to collect water, to take back to the Takht.

Sangat are also free to follow the Singh but it's not as easy as just 'walking to the River bank'.

It's very easy for people living in India to walk barefoot anywhere without pain as their soles are so hard, but, for most of us western folk its a mission walking 5 yards without screaming for the old flip flops!

So picture this, at the start everyone could keep up with the pace set by the Singhs (pictured) at the front. However, by the time we reached the riverbank everyone was scattered all over the place struggling to keep up.

It is a collection of stamina (the lack of it), and the obstacles one has to pass to get to there that makes it difficult but with determination and continuous simran you will get there barefoot!

The pinnacle of it all is walking on the dry mud besides riverbank. It's like walking on nails!! What is a 10 minute walk for the Singhs, is actually a 30 minute trek for a weakling like me!

These are Guru Gobind Singh Ji's personal weapons. For a higher quality picture please click on the following link
