This rather sartorial guy was walking past the Christmas market in the old town in Düsseldorf--I wish I knew more about him?? There must be a narrative there for sure!

We planned to visit Yosemite over the Christmas holiday school break, and despite the federal government shutdown continued the trip. I'm glad we did.

At 26°F, it was a chilly morning and each stop for pictures was a challenge. I am very glad we stopped here.

The antipodes of where I was born and who I am are in the north of New Zealand near Auckand. But they are not on land, they are in the ocean. I am glad to know that the opposite of me is in the ocean, because the sea has always given me happiness and tranquility. The Four Tet insect, which was near Piha beach, was absolutely right.. Both my antipode and the insect are... Hiding Near Piha Beach... Away...

A high altitude Prinia (Warbler) with an unusually long tail found in the Himalayan Belt in India. They are also found in parts of Pakistan, Nepal, Myanmar and parts of Southeast Asia.

The bird is apparently common in the countryside in that region, but we mostly saw the plain Prinia or maybe we didn't identify it right. It was foraging in the bushes and would disappear inside them for minutes and then suddenly appear on a nice perch. By the time we get our cameras positioned, it would disappear again. I am glad we got this shot finally.

Sethi, the hunter, in his jungle. The current rather wet and cold weather slows him down a bit and reduces the number of rodents which end up either dead or alive in the house. I'm so glad that Cleo doesn't hunt anymore and Tofu has never shown much interest in chasing and killing other creatures.

Glad to be back from a 3 week phototrip to Cuba, which was rudely interrupted by the Covid-19 crisis. Many thanks to the Austrian government and the airline „Austrian“ for the realisation of repatriation flights !

I had been planning to make a second trip to the Isle of May this year... But Nature Scot have taken the sensible decision to close the Island due to the Avian Flu outbreak. The decision has been taken not to protect visitors but to protect the birds. The 120 or so visitors each day is manageable when the birds are not trying to survive a pandemic... but at the moment they have enough to deal with with and they don't need the added stress visitors will present. Glad they are putting the animal welfare first.

I also hope the lack of revenue is somehow replaced for the May Princess operators such that the company who operate the boat service don't go under... obviously they would have hoped for a bumper season this year after two years of Covid restrictions!

I hope the avian flu does not have too much of a devastating effect on the British seabird colonies but from what I have seen especially from the Bass Rock and Shetland... the effects already look significant!

Shot on my first visit to the Reserve since lowdown on 27 March 2010. I was glad to see a common hornbill again.

Sunny but what a wind, not a day to be on your bike. Actually, it felt dangerous and I was glad when we were back home.

HFF!

This guinea hen showed up at my house recently and hung out for a week before it’s owner was located. A very vocal barnyard bird but great for ridding your property of ticks , snails, bugs and snakes. After a rough first day with it around where it almost ended up in my freezer, I realized it was just missing his buddies and home. We came to an understanding and it became my buddy. After seeing it’s excitement when reunited with his lady friend and brand new baby, I am glad the owners were located. :)

A mist had appeared late into the afternoon and in the dimming light I took a stroll to Barnes's Grove. Glad I took the monopole though as slow shutter speed was the order of the day as the light faded into gloom.

Glad to see this elusive bird in the open.
