Gibson Hall on the corner of Threadneedle Street and Bishopsgate looks like it is about to be obliterated by the Vogon Constructor Fleet in the form of the soon to be finished 22 Bishopsgate
Looking up from beneath the neoclassical wall of Gibson Hall (15 Bishopsgate) at the looming height of the tallest building within the Square Mile, 22 Bishopsgate.
The New Block on the block, the imaginatively named 22 Bishopsgate, now dominates the City of London skyline at 278 metres (20ft short of the 1000ft limit on buildings in the City). The 1865 carved Portland stone elegance of Grade I Listed Gibson Hall opposite on the corner of Threadneedle Street and Bishopsgate, the former head office of the National Provincial Bank of England, is a fast disappearing remnant of a bygone Victorian era, as land values obliterate pathetic concerns for heritage and history.
[Shooting long exposures I accidentally moved the camera before it had finished resulting in this oddity where the Victorian building appears still but 22 Bishopsgate appears to be moving but the crack at the top of 22 suggests the exposure finished with the wall of Gibson Hall. I could not recreate it, if I tried, but it has a certain appeal without being a Pulitzer contender. The "straight" shot is next door. ]

Gibson Hall was most recently an events venue but after the pandemic, it is now closed and apparently empty. It is to be hoped it does not suffer an unfortunate accident.
