Another thing that I haven't done in ages is post a flower shot and post something pink as being very girly, its one of my fave colours.

I am such a sucker for raindrops, they really do look like liquid diamonds to me especially when they shimmer in the breeze.

I can tell you its no breeze thats blowing our garden to shreds at the moment.

I poked my head out the door at 4am thinking because of the wind there would be some cool wave action. I made a coffee instead as it was freezing.

In the almost five years I have lived here, Summer time, the sea is normally as flat as a pancake, but obviously this is an exceptional year as we are still in Winter mode.

And oh look, the rain has started again!

Hope its warmer where ever you are.

Thank you everyone, No.91 in Explore

It stood for quite a while watching these juvenile swans swimming in unison. I love seeing so many swans as we travel around the UK. We have black swans here in Australia, but normally we only see a couple at a time, although I did see a lot gracefully drifting on the Derwent River in Tasmania once. It was a lovely sight to see.

Santa and Rudolph the Reindeer dropped into our Boxing Day party yesterday. I made the little biscuits after seeing the recipe in one of our magazines. They were a hit with the big kids as well as the littlies.

I was taking a photo of this beautiful giraffe when another decided it wanted to be in the photo as well.

My first Cosmos is emerging. A friend sent me some seed last year and the instructions were to plant them after Winter was over. We were away until the end of October and I planted them once we arrived home. I thought it may have been too late, but apparently not. Thank you Louise.

I am trying out a B&W action on some of my African photos. I can't seem to get the colour photo to look natural, so I read that sometimes it is better to convert to B&W. Which do you prefer?

We called into one of the hides dotted around Kruger and this Yellow Hornbill was watching everyone. We were careful not to make any sudden moves and it stayed around for a few photos.

The Shah Jahan Mosque is considered to have the most elaborate display of tile work in South Asia, and is also notable for its geometric brick work - a decorative element that is unusual for Mughal-period mosques.

When we were on the 6 day tour from Capetown to Durbin, our guide took us past the home of Nelson Mandela, where we saw his burial place on top of the hill near his house. We then went to the museum which was nearby.

This is my photo for the challenge, 52 in 2015 - #41 Party. Ella turned four on the 26th April and had a Frozen party. Princess Anna came for a visit and the girls were super excited. Mummy made the cake - an excellent job Mummy. There were a lot of Princess Anna and Princess Elsas running around excitedly. Ella (in pigtails) is standing next to Princess Anna.

My granddaughters visited the other day and Miss S had done her hair in a bun. We went to the shops and bought another pretty hair tie and after coming home she did the same hairstyle on Miss T. A very professional job, I would say - maybe something she might like to do in the future.

But they have a habit of hiding.

When we came home from our trip the gardens had been decimated by extreme heat which caused over 150 fires to burn out of control in NSW, but after a few days of rain, they are growing back and I have noticed that the insects are back again.

We have had a bad week with Telstra. Our phone has been out of order for a week and was only fixed today and on Saturday our cable internet stopped working. The first appointment for a technician to come out is tomorrow - we will see if they arrive. We are not holding our breath as the phone was supposed to be fixed the next day.

We got a text message when we were at the shops checking our emails - all good now. Internet and phone fixed.

Halloween is beginning to become more popular here in Australia and my granddaughter's school had a Halloween disco evening. Her little sister didn't go to the disco, but had to have her face decorated as well.

Happy Halloween everyone.

Another beautiful Dahlia that is growing in a neighbour's garden.

Early Sunday morning, I took Tom's advice (see Tom, I did listen to you!!) and headed out to the pontoons that take up a large part of Church Bay.

I sat at the end of the pontoons and spent the next couple of hours in absolute bliss, perfect light, absolutely no one around and it was just me and the wildlife.

Two second year Herring Gulls decided it was their mission to entertain me. Well one did, because the other one was quite disdainful of the other's antics.

I have no idea what sex this gull is as male and female look identical to me, but I called her Bouncing Betty as she hasn't quite perfected her landing technique.

To add insult to injury, after she had bounced along, her final touch down was a nose dive, bottom up and her friend cackling hysterically at her ungainliness.

No, it wasn't me cackling hysterically it was the other gull!!

I left the pontoons when bodies started appearing around the harbour and clouds rolling in.

Magic couple of hours.

www.flickr.com/photos/shanekillen/9715853486/ Shane has a shot of me on the pontoons.

Another photo taken yesterday with the Canon 5D Mk III. I am having trouble finding subjects around the neighbourhood as all the flowers are gone.

This is my photo for the 52 in 2015 challenge - #48 - Boots. These are my favourite boots and now that the weather is finally cooling down, I get to wear them again.

This is my photo for the 52 in 2014 challenge - #30 Broken. This is the same bottle that I posted yesterday. A couple of weeks after we bought it home we tried to clean the inside of the glass and when we took the stopper out, the top of the bottle broke away. It had apparently broken (probably years before) and someone had tried to rebuild the top with something which due to age just crumbled away. It is probably now a throwaway, but as it belonged to Peter's grandmother, it will take it's place in the display cabinet. Once the silver top is on, you can't really notice that it is broken, so it still makes a lovely display.

This giraffe walked straight past our car and with the 100-400 lens on the camera, this is the shot I got as I zoomed in. Taken in Kruger National Park.

These birds can blend so well into the bark of trees that it is sometimes difficult to spot them. These birds live at Featherdale Wildlife Park and are not in cages, so you get up close to them.

The Commando Memorial is a Category A listed monument in Scotland, dedicated to the men of the original British Commando Forces raised during World War II.

Situated around a mile from Spean Bridge village, it overlooks the training areas of the Commando Training Depot established in 1942 at Achnacarry Castle. Unveiled in 1952 by the Queen Mother, it has become one of Scotland's best-known monuments, both as a war memorial and as a tourist attraction offering views of Ben Nevis and Aonach Mòr. - See more at: aboutfortwilliam.com/things-to-see/visitor-attractions/th...

One of my beautiful Hallmark Christmas decorations. It is so hot here in Sydney today - the temperature is supposed to hit 41C and by the feel of it, it is already there.

Taken at an Ostrich farm that we visited during our 6 day tour of the Eastern Cape.

When we went to Pilanesberg we stayed at Kedar Lodge which was once Paul Kruger's old property. It was a wonderful place to stay with animals wandering around the property and also the old homestead which has been turned into a museum.

Shane was working yesterday so sigh, I had to go to the Kite Festival by myself.

Didn't have far to go as it was held at the Bishops Palace, only fields away from our house here in Castlerock.

Bit of a sad fact, I have never flown a kite before and I came away from the festival still haven't flown one!!

Picture perfect Summer day with just the right amount of wind to get the mega kites flying without the handlers suddenly being whisked over the Atlantic Ocean to be deposited in Iceland!

There aren't many days out that only cost £4.27 (US$6.50)and everyone really looked as if they were enjoying themselves. I enjoyed myself even further when I found a booth selling Strawberries and Cream!

And still talking about Castlerock. Shane and I entered the Castlerock Community Association Photographic Competition. Never entered a competition before and I was totally thrilled to bits to come first in the wildlife and nature section. I am glad I didn't enter the section Places of Interest because Shane came first AND second and he will never, ever ever let me forget it. NOT that we are competitive! It also pays not to listen to one's husband as he said not to enter Clan Mushroom as it could have been taken anywhere. Actually this is one of my all time fave photos as the light was so beautiful and the raindrops on top of the caps look like jelly.

I have put the photo in the comments section. To see Shane's winning entries :

We visited the Roman Baths in Bath - amazing place. We last visited in 1998 and it was good to revisit such a place full of history.

Time is limited on the internet, so still no time for comments sadly.

On the way back from meeting up with Piet at Satara Rest Camp, Kruger National Park, we spotted a herd of elephant coming down to the waterhole to drink. I was hoping to get some photos of them rolling in the water, but they had their fill and began to walk off.

This is a decoration that I spotted when visiting Peter's Dad in his aged care facility. He is going on 95 now and still doing well, although he has trouble walking around after his fall just before Christmas las year. Otherwise his health is good which is amazing for someone his age.

I wasn't happy with the way that this photo turned out, but I liked the angle, so I had a play in photoshop.

On our tour of France we visited Château d'Amboise where we saw the final resting place of Leonardo da Vinci in the chapel of the Chateau.

Less than 18 weeks now until we visit South Africa again - counting down the weeks. This is one of my newest creations - a small lion (only about 6 inches seated). I really enjoyed making him and have three more orders from the grandchildren. Peter has claimed this one LOL.

Flickr was really playing up for me last night and I couldn't seem to add comments. I will catch up with everyone today.

This is my photo for the 52 in 2015 challenge - #4 Four. These are little containers that were given to us on entering a restaurant in Hungary during one of our trips. They contained a welcome drink to all patrons, but after one sip of the drink, most people tipped the contents into the garden (it was like drinking rocket fuel LOL) and left the ornaments on the table. We were allowed to bring some home as souvenirs.

Sunset from the breakwater at Tuncurry, NSW.

This is my photo for the 52 in 2014 group - #48, Fog, Mist or Smoke. I was really struggling with what to do for this topic, but on our trip to Mt. Wilson on Monday, it was quite misty going up the mountain road and as we came around a bend, this is what I saw. It was difficult to get a shot without the tops of trees in the scene, so I have cropped them out.

In six months time we will be in the UK doing one of my favourite things - travelling around the UK. This is the route we will be taking - it looks like someone has tipped a bowl of spaghetti on the map LOL. Peter is a lover of English sporting rifles, shotguns and history and would like to visit some arms fairs while we are there, so we have had to arrange our travels around four fairs and auctions he will be visiting and this is the result. The accommodation is mostly booked and now all we have to do is wait for the 20th August when we fly out from Sydney.

I have spoken to my son about the cyclone. It was downgraded before it reached Hervey Bay thankfully, but still did a bit of damage in the area. It was worse further up north and now all down the coast is experiencing flooding - the effects of which will last for a few weeks I suppose. He said Hervey Bay didn't get as much rain as other areas, but the winds were pretty bad.

I took my three grandsons to the movies today to see The Hobbit - it was very good if you like fantasy type movies (which I do). They are having a sleepover tonight and tomorrow they are going to stay with my daughter for two nights, and my two granddaughters are coming to stay with me. It is like musical beds in my house LOL.

Salisbury Cathedral, formally known as the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is an Anglican cathedral in Salisbury, England, and is considered one of the leading examples of Early English architecture. The main body was completed in only 38 years, from 1220 to 1258.

The cathedral has the tallest church spire in the United Kingdom (123m/404 ft). Visitors can take the "Tower Tour" where the interior of the hollow spire, with its ancient wood scaffolding, can be viewed. The cathedral also has the largest cloister and the largest cathedral close in Britain (80 acres (320,000 m2)). The cathedral contains the world's oldest working clock (from AD 1386) and has the best surviving of the four original copies of the Magna Carta (all four original copies are in England). Although commonly known as Salisbury Cathedral, the official name is the Cathedral of Saint Mary. In 2008, the cathedral celebrated the 750th anniversary of its consecration in 1258.

Our Grevillea bush is full of these exquisite blossoms. The birds love the flowers and often drop in to feed. The first flower reminds me of the fireworks that I saw on New Year's Eve.

We were so excited to see so many elephants when we visited Addo Elephant Park. We drove around for around two hours and thought we were going to miss out but Jac said he would go to the waterhole again and we found that a whole herd had walked down the hill. After a while they left and another herd wandered down - so many wonderful photo opportunities.

Tomorrow evening we leave South Africa and fly home to Australia. In one way we will be sad to leave but I can't wait to go home and see the family again.

I bought this Lavender a while back and was told it was a white Lavender. I was beginning to think it would never flower, but the last week it has bloomed. I sold my Canon 100-400 lens last week and bought a Canon 28-300 L series lens to use as a walkaround lens. So far I am very impressed with the quality.

We had a lovely sunny day today, but I was busy all day so no chance of flower photos - this is one taken in March.

The sun came out on and off today which was nice after all the rain. I decided to wash and just as I had almost finished hanging it on the line, it began to rain lightly LOL. So we had to take it off and put it on the airer inside where it will stay now until it dries.

I went to the surgeon today, but still no news as he wants me to have more x-rays and an ultrasound done. This seems to be a never ending saga. Ultrasound and x-rays on Friday and doctor's visit on Tuesday which will be four weeks until we leave for Africa - cutting it fine.

Today I bought some new potted collour for my wheelbarrow garden as it is looking bare (and I wanted to find something new to photograph LOL). I really love the colour of these little heartsies.
