View looking east across Fairlight Bay to Sydney harbour late this afternoon, Tuesday 23rd June, 2020. Winter in Sydney! Photographed from the carport of No. 95 Lauderdale Avenue, Fairlight.

Along the Fairlight to Manly walkway (North Harbour walk).

Samsung Galaxy S20+ mobile phone camera, because I forgot to take both memory cards for the Canon 5D Mk IV.

Complete fool. Next time I will get 5D Fairlight shots.

Cheers tonight from a Vietnamese restaurant in Chatswood, northern Sydney!!!

Different angle.

Blob of shadow on the horizon is a Circular Quay to Manly Ferry.

Looking south-west across the harbour from the Fairlight foreshore, along the Fairlight to Manly walkway (North harbour walk) late this afternoon - a sunny winter's day in Sydney. Photographed with my Samsung Galaxy S20+ mobile phone camera (wide angle lens), because I had loaded up the car with the new Canon 5D Mk IV and two lenses with the intention of taking my first lot of harbour shots of Manly and Fairlight with this new camera, but then discovered that I had taken out both memory cards last night and failed to reinstall them in the camera. No points to Gryffindor House!!

Anyway, the Fairlight to Manly walkway is one of my favourite harbourside locations in Sydney!!

There is a magical rock platform, with rock pools, etc, to explore alongside the harbour. This section of the harbour is also known as Fairlight Bay. It provides wonderful shelter for dozens of yachts.

My daughters loved to explore the rock platform when they were younger!

Cheers this evening from Fairlight in Sydney!!

Looking south-west across Fairlight Bay, on Sydney harbour. Photographed from the rockpools adjacent to the North harbour walk, very close to Manly Beach.

One of my favourite recluses in Sydney town. A harbour-side oasis far from the maddening crowd.

Fairlight is one of my favourite locations in Sydney, because it is the start of the North Harbour Walk. For some pictures of this walkway, see:

Fairlight, Sydney, Australia

A landmark house along the Fairlight to Manly walkway in the northern beaches area of Sydney. It sits high up on the hill above the walkway that meanders around Fairlight Bay on its way to Manly wharf on Sydney harbour. The new owners have gone berserk with colourful paint, even painting tree trunks. It was built in the late 1800s when Fairlight was part of an esteemed estate. In past times this was a grand seaside mansion.

Afternoon light on Fairlight bay, Sydney. Tuesday 23rd June 2020. Photographed through the casuarina trees (swamp she-oak) that line part of the Fairlight to Manly walkway (the North harbour walk). View from the rock platform at Fairlight beach (near Manly), on Sydney harbour. Photographed with my Canon 60D and an 70-200mm lens, and tonight re-edited in Corel Paint Shop Pro, adding warmer tones, especially to the rocks and rock-pools.

from the woodland trust: Bluebells are native to western Europe with the UK being a species stronghold. They're associated with ancient woodland and are often used in combination with other species as a clue that a wood is ancient. They reach their greatest densities in the UK’s woods where many thousands of bulbs can exist in one woodland, creating the incredible blue carpets we fondly associate with spring. They also grow along hedgerows and in fields.

A rather misty view from the top of the cliffs which have suffered from serious coastal erosion.

A good thing about a gloomy day, is that certain things seem to stand out more. This was a really gloomy day in the woods at Fairlight, but anything that had an ounce of colour was standing out so vividly. It's not the best of shots and it actually makes me go a bit boss eyed when I look at it, but you get the idea.

Today we went to Fairlight Hall, near Hastings, for a guided tour of the gardens, and very lovely they were ... although the sunshine helped.
