Newark was founded in 1666. Two years later, folks met here to determine the boundaries of Newark and Elizabeth. This pavilion was built in 1916 for Newark's 250th anniversary. The neighborhood (Weequahic, named after the park) seems fancy enough, although perhaps the houses beyond the park are less so. I wonder why it is in such disrepair. It seems like it would be less costly to maintain a building meant to exist in the elements (as opposed to a house with wallpaper and plumbing), but it still costs more than $0. Nothing lasts forever.

The Divident Hill Pavilion is fairly substantial. There are several different stone pathways leading up to it. One other person was trying to enjoy their solitude, so I crept around quietly. I wonder how many people know this is here.
