Did you know that no two people can see the same rainbow. Sounds like some mythological curse but actually it involves simple physics. The light refracted by the same rain drop is at a different angle according to your vision and is at a different angle according to the next person’s vision as both of you can never be at the exact same spot at the same time. Taken in the Moloaa Forest during a thunderstorm on the island of Kauai.
Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my photos and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great weekend my friends :)
If you have any questions about this photo or about photography in general, I will do my best to help, just post a comment or send me a Flickr mail and I will respond as quickly as possible.
Elephants are among the most intelligent of the creatures with whom we share the planet, with complex consciousnesses that are capable of strong emotions. Across Africa they have inspired respect from the people that share the landscape with them, giving them a strong cultural significance. As icons of the continent elephants are tourism magnets, attracting funding that helps protect wilderness areas. They are also keystone species, playing an important role in maintaining the biodiversity of the ecosystems in which they live.
During the dry season, elephants use their tusks to dig for water. This not only allows the elephants to survive in dry environments and when droughts strike, but also provides water for other animals that share harsh habitats.
When forest elephants eat, they create gaps in the vegetation. These gaps allow new plants to grow and create pathways for other smaller animals to use. They are also one of the major ways in which trees disperse their seeds; some species rely entirely upon elephants for seed dispersal.
On the savannahs, elephants feeding on tree sprouts and shrubs help to keep the plains open and able to support the plains game that inhabit these ecosystems.
Wherever they live, elephants leave dung that is full of seeds from the many plants they eat. When this dung is deposited the seeds are sown and grow into new grasses, bushes and trees, boosting the health of the savannah ecosystem.
Sidenote: (This kind of digital art is certainly not one of my strengths, I don't use photoshop so cutting out the model to place into a background wasn't as easy as I thought. I still have much to learn with this but felt proud enough with what I had achieved to publish this with regards to the subject. Elephants face so many more threats than loss of habitat, as do many more wild life species.)
Thankyou in advance for your support, faves, comments and awards!
I do appreciate you all ❤️

Beautiful music was playing across the hidden ethereal forest. It felt like an awakening dream to be drawn towards haunting tunes. Her steps were light when she spotted the figure playing on the old piano.
The fog around them thickened while she sat next to him and just enjoyed the music he was creating.
"Sleep a little." He said, "You seem tired."
"How did you know?" she asked, raising her eyebrows.
He didn't answer and just continued the enchanting music until she couldn't stay awake and stole the chance for a little sleep.
P.S. Thankkk you Kaii for doing this photo with me. :D find his version in his awesome talented stream.
The Red-winged Blackbird is a highly polygamous species, with one male having up to 15 different females making nests in his territory.
A male fiercely defends his territory during the breeding season.
Some birds may travel as far as 80 km (50 mi) between the roosting and feeding sites.
In the wild, red-winged blackbirds live an average of 2 years.
The oldest recorded red-winged blackbird in the wild lived for 15 years and 9 months.
I found this male along the shore of Lake Kissimmee!
A raccoon searches for food in the frozen Colorado river.
Did you know raccoon have nerves in their hands that act like food signals, sending information to their brains.
about the myths and legends surrounding turquoise? I didn't!
An understanding shop owner actually allowed me full access to photograph anything in his lovely bead store.
The real world calls so I'll be taking a break from Flickr. Take good care now!
Did you know that yaks can safely swim even in temperatures as low as -40 (farenheit/celsius)? #PostcardsForTheLunchBag @Hahnemühle_USA
Mary, Did You Know? - Pentatonix
Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you
Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God
Mary did you know? Mary did you know? Mary did you know?
Mary did you know? Mary did you know? Mary did you know?
The blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dead will live again
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb
Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect lamb?
That sleeping child you're holding is the great I am
Mary did you know? Mary did you know? Mary did you know?
Mary did you know? Mary did you know? Mary did you know? Oh
Mary did you know?

Once we were about 1 km out in the Pacific the boat captain started throwing fish pieces in the sea. Hungry birds came zooming in from all over the sky. I didn't realise how gracefully they could land!
Monday morning here and it is not raining. Have a good week.
Did you know that's what a large group of birds flying in perfect formation is called?
I didn't until I looked it up tonight.
I'd spotted them as I drove to the store and then I was amazed to see them again after I'd done my shopping and packed the car ready to go home.
A dazzling display just before darkness fell.
Another quick dash for the camera!
That's pretty cool, isn't it ? I love bees ! They don't love me that much, I think, because they get quite nasty if I try to make contact. Hopefully that will change as soon as they know me better. I won't give up easily !
Did you know that Second Life's daily cycle is four hours long?? (three hours of light, one hour of dark). Some sims change this to suit their needs. This mean there's six SL days to one RL day. Crazy eh!!
So, on your first SL birthday you wouldn't be one you would actually be six.
Which means... in SL I am almost 72 - (SL b'day next month!!!!) and Jon would be 63.

Did you know that there is more than one name for a group of geese? In flight they are called a “skein”, on the ground a “gaggle”, and “flock” is correct any time. #DoodlewashDecember2020 Prompt: Goose. #PostcardsForTheLunchBag @Hahnemühle_USA
Did you know a baby elephant weighs around 250 pounds and is about three feet tall? @DanielSmithArtistMaterials #PostcardsForTheLunchBag @Hahnemühle_USA #ZebraPenUS
Did you know that Pine Siskins can survive in very cold temperatures? The metabolic rates of this species are typically 40% higher than a "normal" songbird. When temperatures plunge as low as -70 degrees C or -94 degrees F, they can accelerate that rate up to five times normal for several hours! (CornellLab)
Photographed in the San Juan Mountains, Colorado.
I love ducks and like to take pictures of them. But not everybody in my hometown is fond of them. Look at the two pictures below. The sign means" Prohibited for ducks" !!!!!!!!!!!!!

108,799,200 bicycles are produced every year. The very moment I am writing this 75 159 742th bicycle is leaving the production line somewhere in the world :)
Did you know that the Snowshoe Hare is able to move as fast as 43 kph (27mph) and can leap 3 m (10 ft) in one jump. They change direction so quick that you loose them in the camera. No wonder I often end up having the back legs only...lol
Did you know that if honey bees cease to exist, that life would also cease to exist as well. Because honey bees are responsible for the pollination 1/3 of the worlds crops, if they suddenly disappeared, so would 1/3 of our food source. The Purple Coneflower is known to attract an array of beneficial insects, so it is a perfect candidate for attracting honey bees and other bumblebees to the garden. The honey bee population has been on the decline for a few years now, but we can always help by planting flowers, such as the coneflower to assist them.

They are incredibly strong and massive in size. Weighing in at 300 to 850kg these are incredibly large animals. It is estimated that a Buffalo is 4 times stronger than an Ox.
Did you know the oarfish – one of the many ribbonfish species – is believed by many to herald the coming of a massive earthquake?
I did the last of these all one after the other to get them done before I left for the beach. I was so tired when I did this one, that I couldn't get my brush to do what I wanted it to!

Did you know that there's a little hole in the bottom of the spoonbill's bill? I didn't until we carefully watched this one forage!
I was surprised to see the Horse Lubber grasshopper casually consuming this acorn. Of coarse it has no need for urgency because they have no predators outside of walkers on the sidewalk and cars on the road. I understand they really, really, task bad.
Did you know there's a duck that doesn't quack? It's the Muscovy duck, one of the most interesting and unusual members of the waterfowl family.
Muscovy ducks are large, averaging 4.3 kilograms (9 lbs.) with a typical wingspan between 137- 154 centimeters (54- 61 in). Males are generally larger than females. Muscovy ducks have red fleshy protuberances, caruncles, that surround the face of adult birds, particularly prominent in adult drakes (males). Their plumage is brownish black with iridescent green, purple and white wing patches.
Muscovy ducks have a social hierarchy in which males protect their territories by dominating other males with visual displays. Dominant males mate with females in their territories while other males remain bachelors. This species is non-migratory and active during the day.

Did you know that over 8 million tons of plastic flow into our ocean every year? By 2050 it is expected that there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish.
I've been thinking a lot about these stats recently and what I can do to raise awareness and give back - especially considering today is Earth Day.
So all sales from this weekend will be matched and donated to "Ocean Blue Project", a nonprofit committed to removing plastic from our ocean and beaches.

Did you know that during Autumn, we have a changing of the leaves in Florida also? Of course, not to the extent to the states north of us, but we do have a significant change. (More so in North Florida)
This picture was taken in Chipley, Florida. Many, many years ago, I would swim in this lake as a young fellow. It is known as Blue Lake Park and is a very nice place for families who want to have a picnic and go swimming. There is playground equipment for children too.
I'm sure you will notice the moon already coming out.
One more thing - I live about one mile from here and am able to take my grandchildren here for them to enjoy it as much as I did when I was their age.
Thank you for taking the time to read this...
when you didn’t just listen,
but truly heard me.
when you didn’t just assume,
but took the time to ask.
when you weren’t just impressionable,
because you thought for yourself.
that’s when i knew.
this was the beginning of something.
something i still can’t fully describe.
except that it makes me happy.
