From all of us, I want to say thank you for supporting Wikipedia with your regular donations. Every donation you have contributed has strengthened our efforts to provide access to free knowledge to people all over the world. Your generosity has made a real impact.

Wikipedia Beyond The Screen

We help children see that knowledge is power. In Nigeria, secondary school teachers put our “Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom” program into practice by providing media literacy skills to their students, helping them learn to spot bias in the information they consume.

We’re committed to protecting access to facts in times of crisis. The Russian government has sought to undermine Wikipedia’s neutrality and the information we share about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Wikimedia Foundation has taken legal steps to ensure we can continue to provide accurate and reliable information to the world.

We want to see gender parity on our screens. Since 2011, volunteer editors have pioneered projects to close the gender gap on Wikipedia by highlighting women in history. And since 2015, the proportion of biographies about women has risen from 15% to 19.47%. We’re excited by this progress and inspired by what our volunteers can achieve in the future.

I hope these snapshots provide a better picture of the difference your donations have made. Should you wish to start supporting again at any time in the future, you may create a new recurring donation here.

Thank you very much again for your generous support – you’ve made a real difference to our readers and you’ll always be part of the Wikipedia community. If you’d like to help us improve the donation experience for future donors, consider taking this 3 question survey. We will not share your information or feedback with anyone outside of the Wikimedia Fundraising team.

Red-bellied Black Snake (Pseudechis porphyriacus) eating a Two-spined Blackfish (Gadopsis bispinosus) in the Cotter River. We were conducting a survey for threatened fish in the Cotter River near Canberra and came across this Black Snake actively fishing for Blackfish. This was not the only one but this one actually caught the fish and carried it to the edge of the river.

The survey consisted of snorkeling up the river and looking for larval Macquarie Perch. I had only just bought a waterproof Nikon AW1 that very morning so I carried that with me. If it hadn't been for purchasing that camera, I would never have got this shot.

A picture today of Cotter Dam - the island in the middle now under water, & looks like not too much further to go before the quarry on the opposite side starts filling!
