This 1937 Austin 'Eighteen Chalfont' limousine could accommodate seven people and was a luxury car intended for chauffeur driving. This vehicle, DTU 795, is on display at the British Motor Museum.
A sad but very worthy celebration of D-Day 6th June 2024 - the lighting of the beacon on the hill at Gold Common, Chalfont St Peter. Quite emotive with singers, and flag bearers etc. on a lovely clear evening. We own so much to the many who went through the wars and also those lost.
Image info:- for a change I can advise that my iPhone was quite hopeless at capturing the flames, but fortunately the trusty Nikon D750 with a 70-200mm f/2.8 zoom was excellent.

This was my entry into the Chalfont & Gerrards Cross Landscape competition and resulted in a "Highly Commended" score.
It is around the North Cape area of Norway taken on board the Hurtigruten ship Spitsbergen. A bit of a mare trying to do long exposures on a moving ship even in calm waters !! Hence the high ISO to give a short shutter speed.

The LT Museums preserved 1938 Tube stock comes into Chalfont & Latimer on the Metropolitan Line running weekend between Watford and Amersham, Sept 2022. The line far right is the now short disused bay platform line into the station here. This was used by the Chesham Branch shuttle between Chalfont and Latimer and Chesham back in the days of 4 Car A Stock trains. When the 8 Car S Stock replaced the A Stock they ran direct to Chesham from London over a junction behind the '38 stock.
This shot was only possible by the kindness of a Met Line S Stock driver. Her train was scheduled to arrive/depart pretty much at the same time that the '38 stock was due to pass through on it's way to Watford on the up line. But opening her cab door next to me and another photographer at the end of the platform she asked what was occurring. We pointed to the '38 stock that had just come into view in the distance! We asked if she was going to be gone in time and saying probably not she said she'd wait instead and very kindly held her train for another 30 seconds. Enough time for us to get some shots in before she closed the doors and pulled away!
Annoyingly just come off a National Express 460, and had literally just changed the destination display whilst I was taking the picture. I do already have a picture of this one on National Express work, but it would of been nice to get a higher quality one.

Chalfont`s BV67 JZC a National Express liveried Caetano Levante, is photographed in Cattle Market Road, Northampton, on a 455 service to London on the 21st of April 2018. Note the friendly wave from the driver. I am sure the gesture changed radically when he noticed the person I was stood next too!

On Friday 20th October 2017 one of the Chalfonts U3A (University of the Third Age) walking groups had a pleasant morning at the National Trust property Cliveden.
The walk wasn’t a very long one, about four and half miles, but the weather was better than we expected. A little windy but certainly not cold.
This is probably my favourite photo of the day. Because we were on a walk and I had to keep up with my friends I didn't pause very long to take it. I saw the view and felt the fence and the trees offered a nice framework. The autumnal colours looked so fresh and splendid I simply composed the shot and pressed the shutter. In the software I use I had to lighten the shadows in the darkest areas and I was done. No further enhancement was needed.
Ex-LMS Stanier 4MT 2-6-4T 42618 at Chalfont and Latimer station on a train of Metropolitan Line 'Dreadnought' carriages, on August Bank Holiday Monday, 1961.
Steam services ended on September 10th, and trains to Amersham and Chesham were taken over by the new 'A Stock' units, although by this time some services - including the Chesham Shuttle - had already been taken over by T Stock units.
A rake of six 'Dreadnought' carriages were stored for use during the Metropolitan 100th Anniversary celebrations in 1963, and three examples were preserved.
42618 was withdrawn in July 1965, and scrapped in November. None of the class were preserved.

Chalfont, PA This was shot at a retaining basin at a shopping center. There have been Canada Geese, Mallards, and Great Blue Herons hanging out there. I'm always surprised by what I see.

In recent years we have held a Fun Night in our village. We close off our main street and invite various stall holders to come along and provide entertainment, food, drinks, candy-floss and lot of other goodies.
We get a good turnout of families and the night is a great success.
The photographs will give an idea of what happens. The organisers work hard to make the evening a night to remember and the participation is usually excellent.
