For Girls Theme Week Live--reflections.
A fleeting glance into the storm drain of my new tub- which will soon be replaced by the proper "rusty Iron" material.
RKO_2654. While strolling through the coastal nature reserve, I came across a couple of swans taking a refreshing bath cleaning up their feathers!

With very few exceptions, new housing in Los Alamos was built with showers but no bathtub. Because of the scarcity of iron during the early phases of the war, Congress had limited the types of bathroom fixtures that could be included in new construction, thus tubs were not permitted. It soon became obvious to all residents that the only persons who could enjoy the luxury of a bath were the families living in the former masters’ cottages. so many definitions of that word. fearless. the song has meant so much to me and it applies to so much. I had the urge to take a fearless photo tonight. I tried a few shots of myself but none of them worked out. As I was walking back to the computer room I heard Figaro meowing in the bathroom. He wanted me to put a little bit of water into the bathtub so he can drink it. Just like it was a mudpuddle out in the wild I'm sure. Anyways this is tonight's definition of fearless.

Inside a drawer in the garage workshop I found two lengths of 'bobble' chain used to attach the plug to the bathtub - goodness knows why I thought the pieces might be useful. Looking at their quality neither is really worth keeping - junk!
This is one of the lengths placed on a mirror surface with colour coming from my old gift bag bought in the local convenience store.
And the lens used - junk, from a builder's skip!

In the fortress/castle abandoned on mount St. Catherine of Favignana still exists this incredible bathroom with a beautiful stone bath.
The fort was built by the Normans in the twelfth century on a pre-existing Saracen watchtower of the ninth century.
Subsequently, in 1500, it was extended for defensive purposes against pirate attacks.
In 1655 it was further fortified by the Aragonesi.
In 1794 it was turned into a terrible prison by the Borboni which began to send the patriots of the various riots in inhuman conditions of detention.
After the landing of Giuseppe Garibaldi to Marsala, in 1860, the crowd released the last prisoners and ravaged with fury inside the cells and everything he could remember so much injustice.
The structure of the building remained standing and was transformed into a beacon for navigation, but soon fell into disuse because of the extreme cloudiness of the top and therefore not visible from the sea.
Visit the castle today is quite risky given by the state of abandonment and lack of protection, but it is enough to reach the outside to admire a fantastic view of Favignana and the other Egadi islands, with distant view of Trapani and Marsala.

"La Vasca del Comandante"
Nella fortezza/castello abbandonato sul monte Santa Caterina di Favignana esiste ancora questa incredibile stanza da bagno con una bellissima vasca in pietra.
Il Forte venne edificato dai Normanni nel XII secolo su una preesistente torre di avvistamento saracena del IX secolo.
Successivamente, nel 1500, fu ampliato a scopi difensivi contro gli attacchi corsari.
Nel 1655 esso fu ulteriormente fortificato dagli Aragonesi.
Nel 1794 fu trasformato in un terribile carcere dai Borboni che cominciarono ad inviarvi i patrioti dei vari moti insurrezionali in condizioni di prigionia disumane.
Dopo lo sbarco di Garibaldi a Marsala, nel 1860, la folla liberò gli ultimi prigionieri e devastò con furia l'interno delle celle e ogni cosa che potesse ricordare tanta ingiustizia.
La struttura dell'edificio rimase in piedi e venne trasformata in un faro per la navigazione che però cadde presto in disuso a causa dell'estrema nuvolosità della cima e quindi poco visibile dal mare.
Visitare oggi il castello è abbastanza rischioso visto lo stato di abbandono e la mancanza di protezioni, ma è sufficiente raggiungere l'esterno per poter ammirare un fantastico panorama di Favignana e delle altre isole Egadi con la vista in lontananza di Trapani e Marsala.
Da non mancare al tramonto....

This is #3 of a serie on those orange slippers.

This is a juvenile raft spider (Dolomedes fimbriatus) which I found on the surface of a small backwater in the Mjällådalen nature reserve cleaning one of its feet (look how the left rearmost leg goes under the spider and up to the mouth).
This one eventually navigated onto land and continued cleaning on top of a pebble (as per here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53839990870/)
