This is taken at Point Defiance Park, located in Tacoma, Washington. There's a five-mile drive that takes you through the park, and you can capture raccoons quite frequently running along the road, particularly in the evening. We always enjoy taking a drive through the park. It's so pretty, high above Puget Sound; it even takes in the Narrows Bridge. Hope you enjoy!

Sullivan Creek is the largest tributary of Cedar Creek, itself one of the larger feeders of the Little North Santiam River. As the creek drops to it's confluence with Cedar Creek, it cascades down this series of pretty and rather impressive falls. Some published accounts suggest the falls are between 40 and 60 feet tall, however on our most recent survey we measured the falls to stand 162 feet tall. This is likely not an accurate measurement of the entire falls either, as there are at least two more tiers just upstream which are not visible from the road, and this may bring the total height of the falls to over 200 feet.

Though the entire falls are not visible from below, absolutely zero effort is needed to enjoy this waterfall. The stream crashes down the final steps of the series of cascades into a pool immediately adjacent to the road, which offers a nice opportunity for wading and cooling off in the summer.

Hi friends, with the dollar in the stratosphere here in Brazil, and after 6 years, I haven't been able to renew my PRO. And they're going to delete my photos!! What a shame!

For an account of my trip to Cornwall, with more pictures from the old mines, and lots of interest to anyone who’s watched Poldark:

Cornwall

The main biblical accounts of Hezekiah's reign are found in 2 Kings, Isaiah, and 2 Chronicles. Proverbs 25:1 commences a collection of Solomon's proverbs which were "copied by the officials of King Hezekiah of Judah". His reign is also referred to in the books of the prophets Jeremiah, Hosea, Micah, and Isaiah. The books of Hosea and Micah record that their prophecies were made during Hezekiah's reign. The book of Isaiah records when Hezekiah sought Isaiah's help when Judah was under siege by Sennacherib of the Neo-Assyrian Empire.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hezekiah

My Flickr account is now 15 years old - I've been posting LEGO since August 2010, over 15 years ago. It's absolutely crazy to think about. I wasn't sure what I was going to do for this post but I realized one of the most important things ever happened to me during the year since my last update - I got married! I did post about it already, but I did forget to include the cat, as my wife pointed out, so an updated picture of our little family felt like the best way to represent this past year and show what I'm looking forward to in the future. A million thanks to her for joining me on my LEGO journey, and a million thanks to my all my other LEGO supporters through the years. I appreciate you and your comments and I'm committed as always to post more fun LEGO things for you to enjoy.

And here's the yearly flickr stats:

This is my 2040th photo, though I know I've posted and deleted a few in the past.

My new top viewed photo from last year is still my top viewed photo and has 150,103 views at the moment. My top favorited photo is still the same photo as before, and it has 311 faves and was explored.

According to flickr I have 17,217,597 all time views on photos, albums, my stream, etc.

I have 553 contacts, and 2779 call me a contact.

I'm part of 135 groups, seven of which I administer and four that I moderate.

Thanks to everyone who's been around from the beginning (the very few of you), and thanks to everyone else that has joined me along the way!

6 year old Thoroughbred broodmare. Take a look at her pedigree and you'll see that her female line traces back to the most influential broodmare of the 20th century, La Troienne:

www.pedigreequery.com/brokerage+account

From Wikipedia...

"She produced fourteen foals and 12 of them raced. 10 of those 12 were winners. The first of these was the Champion Black Helen, by Black Toney, born in 1932. Black Helen won the American Derby, the Florida Derby, the Maryland Handicap, and the Coaching Club American Oaks. The second was born in 1934, Biologist, by Bubbling Over who won the 1926 Kentucky Derby. The third was Baby League, born in 1935, again by Bubbling Over, who became the dam of four stakes winners: the great Hall of Fame filly Busher, as well as Mr. Busher, Striking, and Harmonizing. Her fourth winning foal was Big Hurry, another Black Toney filly, born in 1936, and the dam of five stakes winners: Be Fearless, Bridal Flower, The Admiral, Great Captain, and Searching. La Troienne also brought forth the great Hall of Fame colt Bimelech, born in 1937. By Black Toney, Bimlech won the Belmont Stakes, the Preakness Stakes, and placed in the 1940 Kentucky Derby. Big Event came next in 1938, a Blue Larkspur filly and dam of stakes winner Hall of Fame. In 1939, she dropped Businesslike who was the dam of two stakes winners: Busanda (who was the dam of Buckpasser) and Auditing. Then came Besieged by Balladier in 1940, Broke Even in 1941, a colt by Blue Larkspur, Back Yard in 1942, a gelding by Balladier, and in 1944 Bee Ann Mac by Blue Larkspur. Belle Histoire came along in 1945, once more by Blue Larkspur. Belle Histoire was the dam of stakes winner Royal Record. La Troienne's last two foals were Belle of Troy in 1947, again by Blue Larkspur, and the gelding Trojan War in 1948 by Shut Out.

Les Brinsfield, a pedigree expert, wrote: "Anyone who wants can take any daughter of La Troienne (or all of them) and trace them through pedigrees to today's stars. It will be a rare week when there is no stakes winner linebred to La Troienne.""

Paddy's Hole Boat Storage Facility is an important maritime location situated on the River Tees in Redcar, North Yorkshire, England. With a rich history dating back several centuries, this facility has played a significant role in the region's maritime activities. In this historical account, we will explore the origins, development, and importance of Paddy's Hole Boat Storage Facility, providing a comprehensive overview of its evolution over time.

Origins and Early History:

The story of Paddy's Hole Boat Storage Facility begins in the late 18th century when the River Tees emerged as a vital industrial waterway. The river provided an essential transport link for industries such as coal mining, iron and steel production, and shipbuilding. The natural sheltered area known as Paddy's Hole, located on the southern side of the river's entrance, became a favored spot for local fishermen and boat owners due to its calm waters and proximity to fishing grounds.

During the 19th century, Redcar witnessed significant growth as an important coastal town. The expansion of the local fishing industry prompted the need for a dedicated facility to store and maintain fishing boats. Paddy's Hole Boat Storage Facility was established in response to this demand. The exact date of its establishment is uncertain, but records suggest it was in operation by the mid-19th century.

Development and Growth:

In its early years, Paddy's Hole Boat Storage Facility consisted of basic storage facilities and moorings for local fishing vessels. As the fishing industry flourished, the facility underwent several improvements and expansions. By the late 19th century, it had evolved into a well-equipped storage and maintenance facility, accommodating an increasing number of fishing boats.

During this period, the construction of the South Gare breakwater in the late 1860s provided further protection to Paddy's Hole from the turbulent North Sea. This development enhanced the facility's suitability for storing and maintaining boats, attracting more fishermen to utilize its services. The South Gare breakwater also facilitated the growth of other maritime activities, such as pleasure boating and recreational fishing, contributing to the facility's increasing importance.

World Wars and Post-War Era:

The two World Wars had a profound impact on Paddy's Hole Boat Storage Facility. During World War I, the facility played a crucial role in supporting the war effort. It served as a base for several naval activities, including patrol vessels, mine clearance operations, and the training of naval personnel. Additionally, Paddy's Hole became a temporary home for fishing vessels requisitioned by the government for wartime purposes.

Similarly, during World War II, Paddy's Hole Boat Storage Facility played a strategic role. The facility served as a base for coastal defense and anti-submarine operations. Its proximity to the North Sea made it an ideal location for monitoring and protecting the coast against potential threats. After the war, the facility reverted to its primary function of serving the local fishing community, contributing to the post-war economic recovery.

Modern Era and Recreational Use:

In the latter half of the 20th century, changes in the fishing industry and the decline of traditional fishing practices led to a shift in the role of Paddy's Hole Boat Storage Facility. With fewer fishing vessels requiring its services, the facility began to adapt to new market demands. It gradually transformed into a multipurpose facility catering to recreational boating, yachting, and watersports.

To meet the needs of the changing demographic, various amenities were added to the facility. These included boat ramps, mooring pontoons, storage sheds, and maintenance workshops. The facility became a hub for boating enthusiasts, attracting visitors from across the region and beyond.

In recent years, efforts have been made to preserve and enhance the historical significance of Paddy's Hole Boat Storage Facility. Conservation projects have been undertaken to maintain the original structures, while new developments have focused on creating a more inclusive and accessible space for the community. The facility continues to provide storage, maintenance, and launch services for a diverse range of watercraft, catering to both commercial and recreational users.

Conclusion:

The history of Paddy's Hole Boat Storage Facility reflects the ever-changing dynamics of maritime activities along the River Tees in Redcar, North Yorkshire, England. From its humble beginnings as a local fishing boat storage facility to its modern-day role as a versatile boating hub, Paddy's Hole has witnessed and adapted to the shifting needs of the community.

Throughout its existence, the facility has played a pivotal role in supporting local industries, providing essential services during times of war, and fostering recreational boating and watersports. Today, Paddy's Hole Boat Storage Facility stands as a testament to the region's maritime heritage, serving as a vibrant center for boating enthusiasts and a reminder of the area's enduring connection to the sea.

Having been locked out of this account for 18 months (June '17 to December '18) I am now in the process of moving some of the images from my temporary account over to this one. Here is a series of aerial shots of Old Harry Rocks, across the bay from Poole, on the Isle of Purbeck (which isn't an island!), Dorset. I flew this with the DJI Phantom 3 Professional, in July 2017, just before I sold it. This is an amazing place to fly but, sadly, the National Trust have now slapped a blanket ban on flying from / over any of their properties.

unfortunately, something has happened to my facebook account (which I was using to log into my flickr account) so now I cannot access my flickr. I'm hoping that facebook staff will reactivate my account very soon - but that's just not very likely. they are known for taking their sweet time with these kinds of things... so if you don't see me around, you'll know why I've disappeared... and hopefully I'll be back soon.

Old Account was DarkmanEditz. I'm locked out of it. can't figure out the password to it because I'm evidently getting Old People issues. And with Flickr not being owned by Yahoo anymore it's not as easy to get back in by just logging into Yahoo.
