'The most valuable things in a life are a man's memories.

And they are priceless.'

(Andre Kertesz)

A valuable nectar source for butterflies and bees as this species of scabious has a very long flowering period from July to September. Can be known by many other names such as Lady's Pincushion, Blue Bonnets, Snake Flower, Blackamoors Beauty, Pins-and-Needles etc. This plant was also popular with the old herbalists and used as a herb to treat mange, itches, and scabies.

The Church of Holy Virgin Mary is the oldest and most valuable architectural monument in Inowrocław. Built of granite blocks, closed from the east with a semicircular apse and from the west with two stone and brick towers. Its construction probably began before 1186, during the reign of Duke Leszek (1173–1186). The brick towers were probably completed at the beginning of the 13th century. The church was put into worship before October 6, 1233, when the diocesan synod for the clergy of Kujawy took place.

The church erected on the local hill looks beautiful, but it is a pity that it is inaccessible for passing tourists. It is impossible to see its interior even through the lattice, as is used in other churches.

Foxglove is a well-known plant across the UK, which produces a spike of purple-pink flowers between June and September. It can grow up to 2m tall and is found in heathland, woodland edges and gardens. This pretty flower is also a valuable source of nectar for bees.

Valuable example of baroque art in the Algarve

Compiled by C.H.C.A. van Sypesteyn (1857 - 1937), a valuable art collection forms the foundation of the Castle-Museum Sypesteyn in Loosdrecht. In addition to the collection of portraits, furniture, silver and glass objects, clocks and sculptures, there is also a beautiful collection of porcelain. The Loosdrecht porcelain is particularly worth seeing.

The castle gardens

A garden with hedges, moats and decorative wrought-iron gates characterize Sypesteyn Castle. Via paths and bridges, you can walk around the maze and cross the canal and take a leisurely stroll through the orchards, the park and the castle garden. You will discover all sorts of indigenous and exotic trees during your stroll.

Tribute to Van Sypesteyn

The lord of the castle did not build it merely as a place to house his art collection. As the last descendant of the Van Sypesteyn line, he wanted to build the castle to pay tribute to his family. The stunning garden and park were built in the 17th-century style. Surrounded by the Loosdrecht lakes and the Vecht River, the area around the castle is also magnificent.

Murau

Gothic architecture

The parish of Murau is characterized by its five historically valuable churches, as well as by its various forms of worship.

The Murau parish church is one of the earliest and most interesting Gothic sacred buildings in Styria. It goes back to the founding of Otto II von Liechtenstein, the then lord of Murau. Construction began in 1284 above the town, halfway up the south slope of the Schlossberg.

In 1296 the consecration in honor of St. Matthew, the final completion of the building, however, dragged on for a few more years. In 1311, the donor's will reports that the church building, a cruciform basilica with a high choir and a heavy, stone crossing tower, was not quite finished at that time. Late Gothic additions and extensions from the first half of the 17th century. - when after the extinction of the House of Liechtenstein-Murau, the rule passed to the house of the later princes Schwarzenberg - are witnesses of building changes and additions, which, however, in no way changed the basic character of the early Gothic building.

“To those devoid of imagination, a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”

The martial eagle (Polemaetus bellicosus) is a large eagle native to sub-Saharan Africa. It is the only member of the genus Polemaetus.

A species of the booted eagle subfamily (Aquillinae), it has feathering over its tarsus. One of the largest and most powerful species of booted eagle, it is a fairly opportunistic predator that varies it prey selection between mammals, birds and reptiles. Its hunting technique is unique as it is one of few eagle species known to hunt primarily from a high soar, by stooping on its quarry. An inhabitant of wooded belts of otherwise open savanna, this species has shown a precipitous decline in the last few centuries due to a variety of factors.

The martial eagle is one of the most persecuted bird species in the world. Due to its habit of taking livestock and regionally valuable game, local farmers and game wardens frequently seek to eliminate martial eagles, although the effect of eagles on this prey is almost certainly considerably exaggerated.

Currently, the martial eagle is classified with the status of Vulnerable to extinction by the IUCN.

The immature bird looks quite different from the adult. Immature are paler above, and they have white plumage on the underparts. They have a small crest on the crown. They reach adult plumage at about 7 years. - Wikipedia

The Dresden Frauenkirche is a Lutheran church in Dresden, the capital of the German state of Saxony. Destroyed during the Allied firebombing of Dresden towards the end of World War II, the church was reconstructed between 1994 and 2005.

An earlier church building was Catholic until it became Protestant during the Reformation. The old church was replaced in the 18th century by a larger Baroque Lutheran building. It is considered an outstanding example of Protestant sacred architecture, featuring one of the largest domes in Europe. It was originally built as a sign of the will of the citizens of Dresden to remain Protestant after their ruler had converted to Catholicism. It now also serves as a symbol of reconciliation between former warring enemies.

After the destruction of the church in 1945, the remaining ruins were left for 50 years as a war memorial, following decisions of local East German leaders. The church was rebuilt after the reunification of Germany, starting in 1994. The reconstruction of its exterior was completed in 2004, and the interior in 2005. The church was reconsecrated on 30 October 2005 with festive services lasting through the Protestant observance of Reformation Day on 31 October. The surrounding Neumarkt square with its many valuable baroque buildings was also reconstructed in 2004.

The Altiplano, the high plateau is not totally devoid of water; there are several lagoons that provide valuable food for birds.

Photos of ornaments like this rarely appear on web. They are coming from the jewellery collection of the emperors of the forbidden city in central Beijing, China. The forbidden city, a World Heritage Site of UNESCO, is an imperial palace complex, constructed from 1406 to 1420, consisting of 980 buildings in traditional Chinese palatial architecture, which has influenced cultural developments in East Asia and elsewhere.

The collections of the Palace Museum are based on the Qing imperial collection. Today, there are over a million rare and valuable works of art in the permanent collection of the Palace Museum, including paintings, ceramics, seals, steles, sculptures, inscribed wares, bronze wares, enamel objects, etc.

The illustrated early Chinese jewellery masterpiece is a hairpin decorated mainly by blue kingfisher (Alcyone) feathers, as well as butterfly feathers, red coral and other materials. It was indented for personal adornment of the empress. On the left in the background is visible an outstanding brooch, made also by blue kingfisher feathers.

The photo was taken in the context of the exhibition "Forbidden City: The Private Rooms of Emperor Qianlong.” at Acropolis Museum.
