Trakai Castle is located on the largest island of Lake Galve. It was commanded to build from great prince Witold in 1404-1408, in addition to the already existing castle on the peninsula. The previous building was repeatedly damaged as a result of fights with the Teutonic Knights, therefore the new castle was to provide support for the older Trotsky castle. In this period, Trakai was an important center of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

Soon after the battle of Grunwald in 1410, the castle began to lose its military significance. The former fortress was transformed into a princely residence. Władysław Jagiełło visited the castle several times, and Witold died in the castle in 1430.

Starting from the seventeenth century, the castle fell into ruin. During the wars with Moscow, he was ruined and reconstruction plans were created in the 19th century.

The first conservation work was carried out in the years 1029-30, but the real reconstruction began only after the Second World War. The castle after reconstruction represents the Gothic style, according to the supposed state of the fifteenth century. It is a major tourist attraction in Lithuania.

Stanowi on dużą atrakcję turystyczna na terenie Litwy.

Seagull with his/her landing gear down, approaching crisscrossed wire used as a detterent to keep birds away.

Gulls, or colloquially seagulls, are seabirds of the family Laridae in the suborder Lari. They are most closely related to the terns (family Sternidae) and only distantly related to auks, skimmers and even more distantly to waders. Until the 21st century, most gulls were placed in the genus Larus, but that arrangement is now considered polyphyletic, leading to the resurrection of several general.

An older name for gulls is mews, which is cognate with German Möwe, Danish måge, Swedish mås, Dutch meeuw, Norwegian måke/måse and French mouette, and can still be found in certain regional dialects.

Gulls are typically medium to large birds, usually grey or white, often with black markings on the head or wings. They typically have harsh wailing or squawking calls; stout, longish bills; and webbed feet. Most gulls are ground-nesting carnivores which take live food or scavenge opportunistically, particularly the Larus species. Live food often includes crustaceans, molluscs, fish and small birds. Gulls have unhinging jaws which allow them to consume large prey. Gulls are typically coastal or inland species, rarely venturing far out to sea, except for the kittiwakes. The large species take up to four years to attain full adult plumage, but two years is typical for small gulls. Large white-headed gulls are typically long-lived birds, with a maximum age of 49 years recorded for the herring gull.

Gulls nest in large, densely packed, noisy colonies. They lay two or three speckled eggs in nests composed of vegetation. The young are precocial, born with dark mottled down and mobile upon hatching. Gulls are resourceful, inquisitive, and intelligent, the larger species in particular demonstrating complex methods of communication and a highly developed social structure. For example, many gull colonies display mobbing behavior, attacking and harassing predators and other intruders.Certain species have exhibited tool-use behavior, such as the herring gull, using pieces of bread as bait with which to catch goldfish, for example.[ Many species of gulls have learned to coexist successfully with humans and have thrived in human habitats. Others rely on kleptoparasitism to get their food. Gulls have been observed preying on live whales, landing on the whale as it surfaces to peck out pieces of flesh.

Dragon detail from Shibamata Taishakuten, which was founded in 1629 - but the buildings in the area are generally from the early 20th century. The inner shrine of the Taishakudo (Taishaku temple hall) was finished in 1915 and the hall of worship 1929. The temple is centred around the worship of Taishakuten (sometimes called just Taishaku - written 帝釈天 or 帝釈 respectively), the Japanese name for Sakra devanam Indra (that is, the god Indra, known from Hinduism).

The temple (and its nearby ferry) is designated as one of the '100 Soundscapes of Japan' (日本の音風景100選) and the temple is also '100 Landscapes of Japan (Heisei era)' (平成百景). And it is the home of a series of quite spectacular wood carvings, depicting scenes from the Lotus Sutra, and with some really beautiful dragons which carry beams on their heads (the wooden kind, not the ray of light-kind of beam...).

Captured the White Bird Trading Post in Oatman, a mysterious and tiny town surrounded by the Black Mountains that overlooks the Mojave Desert. A little more than half a century ago, it was a prime strategic base for miners and those seeking gold. Often described as a ghost town, it doesn’t quite fit the category, but close enough, considering that it once boasted over 10,000 people and now supports just about 45 people year-round.

I am pleased to have the support of my grand daughter as an assistant on some of my photoshoots and it's a special bonus when she smiles.

I used ambient light and a ring light to provide highlights from the left hand side. I set the camera aperture to f/1.8 to slightly defocus the background.

Wanted to thank all of you for your wonderful support.

Few of you have helped me in so many ways to learn how to become a better photographer.

Some have pushed me out of my safe zone, to where I can try and broaden my scope of what types of photos I do.

So thank you for all your support. All my followers and friends, it truly is SO appreciated.
