A 75 year old mechanical pencil that still has a millimeter of eraser left. The 2000 mile oil that it touts was probably changed seventy-four and a half years ago.

Kendall Motor Oil's roots trace back to northwestern Pennsylvania in McKean County.

In 1881, Eli Loomis, William Willis, and Robert Childs founded the Bradford Oil Refinery. The three were inspired to do so after witnessing the Jackson Walker Well, drilled in 1875, erupt just a few years into its processing period.

The Bradford Oil Refinery is one of the oldest oil refineries still in production, and it started out producing 10 barrels of oil a day. It currently processes over 9,000 barrels a day and purchases more than three million barrels of Pennsylvania Grade crude oil a year.

Kendall's name originated from Kendall Creek, the creek runs along the 4.35-acre property and through the city of Bradford.

Otto Koch debuted Kendall's slogan in 1928 expressing the motor oil's ability to protect engines well-beyond the common 500-mile range. This is when the hand showing two fingers became the brand's official logo.

Kendall is also credited for several "firsts" in the oil industry such as the first to produce sealed motor oil on a national level in 1933, the first refiner to use propane de-waxing in 1937, and the first refiner to use phenol extraction in Pennsylvania.

In 1953, it introduced the first 10W-30 oil and used petroleum distillates on a large, industrial scale.
