Wild turkey in the wildlife sanctuary.

Happy Thanksgiving to my U.S. friends.

Spotted from a country road in Stafford County, Ks.

Otto scared this turkey up into the oak tree and I waited forever for it to finally take off

Yellow-crowned Night Heron devouring a crawdad. Swallowed it whole! Near the lake at Sugar Land regional airport, Texas.

Gobble Gobble Munch I think this little guy is going to move in to the feeder since he has been spending a lot if time eating, found in North Carolina.

This big guy hangs out near my work. We used to see a lot of them but they were re-located to a park. Apparently, they forgot this big guy.

Imagine, you've walked for 10 days without seeing a human, through landscape, sleeping under stars and you finally find a sign of civilisation, a tavern near the sea.

You enter it. A ton of people are packed inside. You ignore them because all you want is a good meal. You order food and the guy comes with a plank with dried meat, beer and...a sea-serpent slice. What? You've never tasted that, you didn't know it's edible. Shocked and disgusted, you're too hungry not to eat it. and what do you know? it's pretty good !

After gobbling it all up in 5 minutes, you ask to random people why is this served in the tavern. Apparently, a sea serpent washed up on a beach near by. What a nice discover

I got inspired by a lot of medieval/viking food on Pinterest. I love those kind of art even if most of them are IA.

This MOC is for the Medieval Still Life category of Summer Joust 2025.

Hope you like it :)

Snowy Egret on the weir of Double Lake, Sugar Land, Texas. There's been a rain and the lake is overflowing the weir. That means good fishing.

Among the largest birds in North America. The large-bodied, long-legged and small-headed look of a turkey is distinctive. Appears dark from a distance. Often seen in small groups in open fields near woods. Gobbling often audible in the spring and early summer.

I "recycled" one of my favourite Waxwing shots, and gave it some texture from Picnik-I know I just can't help myself :)

Clouds over the reservoir appear to gobble up sailboats anchored in the sunset while geese float along.

My husband took this shot of me to show how huge some of the ice caves can get.

Reducing the range and vibrance of the hues in this image, and adding a bit of grittiness, brought the composition together nicely for me. My attention flows back and forth from right to left up through the image without the perceptual disruptions of the brighter, more demanding colours. ;-)

Translation: I did the raw conversion using Lightroom 5, passed the image to onOne's Perfect Effects 9. looked through the presets for something that appealed to me, fiddled with the sliders until I was happy with what I saw, saved and published. All that compositional gobble-d-gook above was made up post facto, moments ago, heh heh.

cheers to everyone today...hoping that your day was filled with full tummies & warm conversations & lots of love & laughter! had to find a few moments to give my thankfulness for my extended friends here on flickr...
