An attractive little moth of spotted on the Yellow rattle (Rhinanthus minor). This one of the three Ermine moth from Yponomeuta species found here; probably the Spindle ermine (Yponomeuta cagnagella) judging by evenly dotted wings though hard to be completely sure as they are quite similar in appearance. Little Solsbury Hill. Batheaston near Bath, BANES, England UK
A Buff Ermine Moth from my light trap a few days ago.
Forewing length 17-22mm
Flight Season Mid May - July
Many thanks to all who take the time to view, comment or fave my images.
Also known as the short-tailed weasel or stoat.
The ermine changes its fur color from a reddish-brown to a stark white as summer turns into winter.
Extremely difficult to get this guy to stand still for a second.
Parkside Greenspace, Ottawa.

A Stoat in its winter coat forages for food among a pile of logs at the British Wildlife Centre. The Stoat, also known as the Ermine or Short-tailed Weasel, is native to Eurasia and North America. The animal’s pelt was used historically in royal robes in Europe, and the term ermine also refers to the animal’s white coat.
Une belle surprise au chalet pour mon anniversaire. Cette mignonne petite créature est venue nous visiter en se pointant le bout du museau de temps en temps. Je ne savais pas à quel point ce petit mammifère était amical. 💗
This little one came at the cabin as a Birthday present. :)

My first encounter with a beautiful ermine or short-tailed weasel in white winter coat. These guys are so fast and quite tricky to capture. Guess this barn is home and hunting ground at the same time...Bavaria, Germany
An early morning walk found this weasel/ermine occasionally popping out of an old woodpile for a view.
Thank you for viewing
They look cute, but they are ferocious. The day before we watched him carry off a red squirrel, and the squirrel was almost as big as him ( her?)
A distinctive feature of the stoat is the seasonal color change. They show up in the summer in a nondescript Brown dress with white undersides, so colour is at the beginning of winter, snow white. Only the tip of the tail is black all year round.

Occasionally guests at our B&B will leave their bathroom light on all night with the window wide open! The next morning we often get called up to retrieve moths. This beautiful White Ermine moth played dead when I picked it up but soon flew off into the Giant Gunnera plant to hide away for the day. Happy Moth Monday & Happy Window Wednesday!

A toute allure et dans tous les sens, l'hermine fonce sur la neige à la recherche de proies.
At full speed and in every direction, the ermine rushes on snow to seek preys.

eighteen hour 'roadtrip', four hour RT hike and 50 minutes of waiting paid off after catching a glimpse of a white streak with three minutes of 'shooting time' when this ermine came out of his den ! I've only saw these weasels on a couple occasions and they are so fast and never 'still'....this aggressive little hunter was chasing down a ground squirrel when first spotted.....soon he will have his pure white winter coat...
