Montpelier, Vermont - the smallest capital city in the USA with an estimated population of just over 7,000. Shot with the Olympus E-5.

I've taken a few pics of the US Capital but never this side. Here it is from our trip to DC back in April. A pano taken with the Nikon 20mm and stitched in Photoshop. May it never experience another day like it did on January 6th 2021 and all those involved with the attempted overthrow be held responsible.

Hobart, capital of Australia's island state of Tasmania, sits on the River Derwent. At its fashionable Salamanca Place, old sandstone warehouses host galleries and cafes. Nearby is Battery Point, a historic district with narrow lanes and colonial-era cottages. The city's backdrop is 1,270m-high Mount Wellington, with sweeping views, plus hiking and cycling trails.

Very early morning hoot in the capital and a nice chance to capture an iconic landmark without the crowds.

Cancale

is a commune in the Ille-et-Vilaine department in Brittany in northwestern France.

Cancale lies along the coast to the east of Saint-Malo.

It is a picturesque fishing port popular with visitors, many of whom are drawn by its reputation as the "oyster capital" of Brittany.

Though a small town, it is well served by a large number of restaurants, many specialising in seafood.

When not eating one can sit and watch the bustle of this busy little town with many stalls selling crustaceans of all types.

This is the imposing building of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt (Germany) near the river Main which was completed in March 2014. With its 185 m (607 ft) and 45 storeys it is the 7th tallest building in Frankfurt.

I did some processing on the photo, because somehow it didn‘t like the - original - blue sky.

Took another shot of the Capital Wheel at sunset during the blue hour. I was trying to capture the vibrant colors of the sky, the lights of the Ferris wheel, and the reflection of the water all in one shot. Did some work in Lightroom to bring out the colors.

On my previous trips to Utah I passed over visiting Capital Reef National Park being more than a little bit out of the way and being restricted by vacation scheduling and limited by how much you can travel with a bunch of screaming whining kids in the back seat. This time being retired I decided not to pass it over this time and I was glad I did. This is one of the best views from the park from my visit that day.

A lot of people cannot tell you what city is the capital of Alaska. The first two guesses are; Anchorage or Fairbanks. Wrong on both counts. The capital is located in southeast Alaska along the shores of the Lynn Canal on the Inside Passage. It has to be the most breathtakingly beautiful capitals of all of the fifty states. If you haven't guessed by now - the capital of Alaska is "Juneau".

Doc and I spent several years living in Juneau, and we enjoyed every moment. The only way in and out of town is by plane, or by the state ferry system - and longtime residents like it that way. It sure puts a damper on crime when you have to schedule a flight, or wait for the next ferry to arrive in port. It makes for a rather complicated escape. LOL

(I captured this photo from Douglas Island, which is to the west of Juneau, and connected by bridge.)
