Mit einem Holzzug aus der Ostschweiz war dieses Re 4/4 Tandem von WRS wenige Meter von dem Zielbahnhof Menznau entfernt zu sehen.
Zwischen München und Mühldorf verkehren im Stundentakt Regionalzüge, im Berufsverkehr sogar noch deutlich mehr. Die Kreuzungen des Stundentakts finden in Dorfen oder Schwindegg statt. Während Dorfen schon vor etlichen Jahren ein ESTW erhielt, gibts in Schwindegg nach wie vor Formsignale. In den letzten Jahren dominierte die Baureihe 245, 218er waren meist nur noch im Berufsverkehr anzutreffen. Doch wegen anstehender Revisionen in diesem Jahr sind nun die 218er wieder verstärkt im Einsatz zu beobachten.
Nach erfolgter Kreuzung verlässt 218 430 mit RB 27023 den Bahnhof Schwindegg.

Auch 2021 ist weiterhin planmäßig ein Umlauf mit 218 im Donautal zwischen Ulm und Donaueschingen unterwegs. Es kommt eine Dosto-Wendezuggarnitur zum Einsatz, die Lok steht Richtung Ulm.
218 430 wurde am 06.03.2021 mit RE 3247 nach Ulm bei Inzigkofen in der herrlichen Landschaft des Donautals angetroffen.
Zwischen den vielen Fern- und Regionalzügen ist auf der Schnellfahrstrecke zwischen Berlin und Hannover nur wenig Platz für Güterzüge. Nach einem der unzähligen ICEs tauchte dennoch ein Güterzug auf. So konnte 186 430 mit ihrem Containerzug bei Neugarten festgehalten werden.
Between the many long-distance and regional trains, there is little space for freight trains on the high-speed line between Berlin and Hanover. Nevertheless, a freight train appeared after one of the countless ICEs. Thus 186 430 with its container train could be captured near Neugarten.
