Elise - stranger 289/300

Walking around the lake at Nottingham’s Highfield Park I caught up with two young ladies who didn’t seem to be in a hurry to get anywhere, so I thought I’d introduce my stranger project to them. Both agreed to being photographed and you can see Elise’s friend Niya as my next stranger.

We were standing by a path that led down to the water’s edge and we decided that would be a good location to take their portraits. When we arrived at the waterside, we discovered a couple sitting on a bench who stayed during our short photoshoot and I think we thoroughly entertained them throughout.

I asked Elise to stand with her back to the water as this meant the sun would give her hair a hint of backlighting. As soon as I began taking pictures Elise started going through a variety of poses and it was obvious that she was enjoying being photographed.

Elise is at university in her first year of three studying film. She hopes to become a director and would like to make psychological thrillers.

Elise is from Norfolk and said she prefers her birthplace to Nottingham as she likes country life better than city life.

When not studying, Elise enjoys spending time with friends, writing music and stories, and going to life drawing classes.

Who was Elise’s first star crush? “Robert Sheehan,” she said.

What is Elise’s guilty pleasure? “Cheese bites,” she replied straight away.

If I could grant Elise a superpower what ability would she like? After a moment of thought she said, “to be able to stop time.”

What single word would Elise use to describe herself? “A thinker,” she said. I then asked her friend Niya what word she’d use to describe Elise and she said, “bubbly.”

Thank-you Elise for saying yes to being photographed for my project. I hope you like your portrait.

This picture is #289 in the 100 Strangers project, yes, I’ve decided to do a third round. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page
