If people like Mark Dixon and Brian Pedlar can post the occasional umbellifer photo, I thought I’d have a go at a lighthouse...So here is an offering from a trip to Essex (yes, I occasionally venture out of Suffolk!) a few weeks ago.
This is what lighthouses are like on the calm East coast. No mountainous waves to knock you out or treacherous rocks to slip on, in fact I don’t really know what this delicate little lighthouse is doing here at all! Probably something to do with the Port of Felixstowe which is just over the water from here.
This is the Low Lighthouse at Dovercourt. There are loads of amazing photographs of it on Flickr, and I’d love to see what my Real Photographer friends with tripods and long exposure know-how, would make of this. As opposed to a Pretend Photographer who invested in a tripod and broke it photographing daffodils. Indoors. Don’t ask :/
Hope everyone’s having a great week, it's good to be back :)
A sanderling enjoys the rich pickings of The Wash on a retreating tide. Their efforts to make the most of washed up morsels always seem like witnessing a race against time. This one has picked out a tasty crab.
If executed properly (and of course taken way earlier) this might have made for a darn cute Christmas card. Filing this idea away for next year!
This was taken on the porch swing. She posed that way right as I took the picture. I guess she wanted to show some leg!
Most flies get spooked when I get in close with the camera, but this guy was brazen. He had a belly full of salmonella and a head thick with guff and gumption. He didn't budge, this one.
my sister sent some frogs (Legs, little Legs,Lilypad) for Father's Day and for my bday. and my dad bought frogs (Bayou, Jeremy Fisher) just around the same time, too.
Mr. Jeremy Fisher sat me on his lap and took a photo.
how many frogs do I have? i can't count it...
Today has been miserable and wet so when spending the afternoon with my sister and her 2 little ones Mani and Lottie our trip to the swings had to be abandoned when it threw it down !! So after a trip to MacDonald's a stop off at mine for Mani to play Mario Galaxy on the Wii we ended up back at my sisters and still no Bench shot.....I called in Mani and got him to stand on his little pirate chair...to which he told me he wasn't allowed to stand on chairs so I said it would be ok just this once as I was watching him and he posed fantastically - although he was a little confused that I had only photographed his feet !!!
I've been playing around in Photoshop and have added an alternate background and texture to try out a few more techniques...I think I like the result....and of course his little feet look very cute !
Happy Bench Monday all
ODC Challenge Friend - cos Mani is of course my little friend (as well as my nephew - tenuous I know ) !
Thanks for stopping to view, comment and fave, all are very much appreciated :o)
Running down the Sleeping Bear Dunes in Michigan. Is it more fun for the kids or for the adults? It's an unanswerable question.

these are nene goslings, and they are just a total delight to watch!

my last collage for a while - this is from the skatepark at alexandra palace, london, taken today, 22 march.
:( Bath time is a sad time for Penny.
Unfortunately for her, due to her ultra-long fur, she needs more baths than most cats.
Josepha knows how to put air into a lion: through the tail
Taken yesterday, at the last day of the 3-day De Wereld van Witte de With festival.
I was just having a coffee with hellobo, when Josepha's remarkable respiratory achievement took place at the next table.
Some more impressions of the sunny street festival in my alternate photostream JeromesPOF.
It got my attention that Josepha's talents go way beyond inflating rubber mammals. Her other creations are on display here

Okay, I don't actually know that this is a ladybug, because it looks different than your "average, run-of-the-mill" ladybug.
Any entomologists in the crowd? Anybody? Bueller?
this is caesar and he is a rescue palomino miniature horse, he’s so adorable and quite feisty!
he is another rescue animal at ‘the sanctuary’ morpeth
as with most charities, 'the sanctuary' needs help - so if anyone is doing any fundraising or looking for a really worthwhile charity to donate to, or set up a monthly payment to, please consider this incredible place
their moto is :
"Saving just one animal won't make a difference to the world, but it will make a world of difference to just that one animal."
