This was a cool confrontation!

I had to stand under this leaf in my backyard for about half an hour, snapping away, but it was worth it...this ant and ladybug were fighting for space on the same tiny leaf...the ant kept crawling on and around the ladybug, who just sat there impervious, and the ant kept looking for cracks in the ladybugs armour.

Finally the ant gave up and moved on, but it was cool to see!

Digital. Canon EOS D60.

Another bugfight! 5 photos of two Bull ants locked in mortal combat. Notice they are both missing legs - one is down to 4 legs, the other down to 3. I don't know if those injuries were sustained in this fight or earlier, I didn't see it start.

Bugfight, only one Winner

A macro image capturing synchronized movement as weaver ants lift a green lynx spider on dark tree bark. This remarkable act of collective strength reflects insect intelligence and the complexity of ant behavior.
