While you've been here, I've been away and I've missed you.
Come take my hand (figuratively) and spend some time with me... let's catch up and capture the world.
Tomorrow (adjust accordingly for yourself) marks Thursday and Thursday means Thursday Walk for Utata.
Spend the day or a few moments out in the world you live in. Go for a walk and take in what you see...let your camera grab ahold of your visions so you (and we) can hold on to them forever.
I'll be walking, will you?

I'll be combining my Thursday Walk (on Friday, of course) with a shoot on the good ship Ventura in North Cove, which I'm bartering for a ride on their sunset cruise that night.
I love the Ventura more than it's polite to say in mixed company, and have been going out on charters on her for, what, 8 years or so.
Not sure how I'm going to fit her into the lens, but I'll be doing a fair amount of below-decks work, most likely - low light still-lifes, using a tripod on a vessel in water. Should be pretty interesting. And I'm going to see if I can talk Captain Pat into letting me use the hoist to get up the mast, which isn't very likely, but who knows.

@stephiedee: Walking is easy. Just remember this song from "Santa Claus is Coming to Town:
Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you’ll be walking cross the floor
Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you’ll be walking out the door
Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you’ll be walking cross the floor
Put one foot in front of the other
And soon you’ll be walking out the door

Wow, pretty soon Joe is going to be off the Cool-o-Meter charts.
Thursdays are hard for me. A large group of folks from the office usually orders Chinese food and we hang out in the kitchen and eat. It's the only time I eat lunch away from my desk and it's nice to be social at least once a week. Maybe I'll bring my camera in tomorrow and see what happens.
Do you have to go outside to count it as a walk?

You know, I always think creativity flows best when people can interpret things on their own...
A Thursday Walk, in my opinion, is whatever your creative mind deems as a Thursday Walk.
I also forgot to mention above, don't forget to tag your photos :)

I've been gone and missed you all too...
but I am back now, with oodles of pics from my trip to download and tinker with and upload.... and in need of a walk for sure!
Any themes?

Stephiedee, if you're just learning to walk you might forego chewing gum simultaneously. Not because you can't multi-task, but it's a mess when the bubbles burst and gunk up the camera.
@Bubbles: I thought of you this morning as my poodle boyz were chasing soap bubbles about the park. (pictures in camera)

Ooh, it's Thursday morning here already, and I went out for a mini walk before breakfast. It was foggy. Photos to follow.

Gonna do my best to get out there tomorrow as I missed out last week.
Hey, this Thursday walk coincides with World Photo Day. I still have my login from last June 1. Sweet. I will be sure to upload one of my photos from tomorrow up there.
acshepard: but not if you provide evidence for the prosecution. maybe you should open an account for your alter ego.
YAY!!! I'll walk with all of you! hopefully I'll have a good day and not be grumpy or tired..altho those types of photos could be interesting =)
Brenda, why is it the first day of winter? Isn't the Winter Solstice on June 21 in the Southern Hemisphere?
Yes, winter solstice is on June 21st, but traditionally, the seasons start on the 1st of the month: Summer starts 1st of December, Autumn starts 1st of March, Winter starts 1st of June, and Spring the 1st of September.
Sorta like how Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer in the US. ;)

tomorrow is a press day and I tend to be glued to the desk for the majority of those days.
But t'will try. For sure. It might just be a wee stroll to the parking lot whilst having a sneaky cigarette, though.

Ah, I see. Sorta like how the third Monday in May is considered the official start of summer in Canada when we celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday!

Here's my first Thursday walk picture. I had a great time on this foggy Yarmouth morning. I think I'll try to get into the habit of this.

D'oh! Thanks to having Monday off, my days are all screwed up! I forgot it was Thursday and left the house with my *film* camera, not the digital! Guess you'll be seeing my Thursday photos in a week or so.

Here's another from my walk this morning. I love whoever is doing these little tags. Maybe next Thursday I'll take a picture of the face they put on the fire hydrant across the road (it looks at me when I'm doing the dishes).
great shots, anyone else up for a walk? I went out, and forgot my camera of course.
I went for an 11-mile walk yesterday only because my legs were sore from a marathon Sunday and I couldn't jog. This morning a thunderstorm: I went to the gym and did a spin.
I walked down to the kitchen for our normal Thursday lunch, but I did bring my camera. I took a few shots, after explaining to all the guys exactly why I brought my camera to lunch. :-)

aww, the pack- you thought about me?! :) I think about your babies every time I see a poodle.
I haven't had a chance yet for a walk- been stuck at the desk all day- but I plan one for after work for sure!

Found a new place to walk today, the Arboretum of Los Angeles County. A really huge place, it is wall to wall peacocks and they are very tame. You almost have to shove them out of your way to move down the path.

Here's the set:

Had to work late today and thought I would miss an opportunity to shoot. Luckily on the way home I got this:

Skidding in by the skin of my teeth, with 12 minutes to spare Eastern Time:
I found this gnarsty chair behind a bar. Joe asked if I sat in it, but the thing stank.

Then I found a cop who had been dipped in bronze! Imagine!

On the drive out of downtown after work, I got caught in a wicked storm with lots of veiny simultaneous lightning and thunder. Luckily for me, God saw fit to spare my life.

I parked the car and got out for my first Thursday walk, only to be greeted with a downpour -- but no mind, I love the rain. Went to take my first photo and realized I didn't have my glasses on, or with me, and my spare were in my other bag at home. So I shot a few without being able to see through the viewfinder -- used autofocus, heh. Haven't uploaded, but doubt anything turned out worthwhile (if so, will post). :D
funny story Dancing star! love it. I have more than once shown up at a clients house with all my equipment- except the little attachment thingy that secures my camera to the tripod.

What a great "excuse" to get out and look around. One of these weeks, I'll manage to do my walk on my way to work, so I can shoot something other than downtown architecture. Fortunately, it's a subject I like...

I worked (from home) from 6am to 3pm. Then did freelance business stuff... and finally got outta the house in the early evening. Back at it Friday at 6am... then 7 delicious days off!!
Roadtrip!!!
I was crazy busy all day yesterday, but fortunately my route to lunch was through the woods and over my favorite little dam. It's always fun to photograph because there's always something new stuck on the weir. In the fall it's leaves, in the winter it's gigantic chunks of ice.

On closer inspection, there was something funky in the water this time. WARNING: GROSS dead muskrat:

My walk wasn't unusual or 'special' because I walk to work everyday from the ferry, but this time I took a little longer and stopped to get a few shots along the way.

As usual, I'm trapped inside at work on Thursdays. I think the most exciting thing I could take a picture of would be my purple Converse that I'm wearing. Really enjoying everyone's excursions, though! :-)

Okay, I'm way, way, way jonesing here.
I have so many great shots I'm *acheing* to share with you guys, but my computer has been "in the shop" for two weeks.

I managed to sneak out for a short walk. I saw cats, flowers, a gardening tool that looked like it was placed in a still life, a fence maze, and a very pretty street mural —

(And I was lucky not to encounter any dead birds this week like I did last week.)

I'm walking tomorrow on Friday, as per usual. (Yes, well, some of us are difficult, you know.)
