Kitchen Table, a four-seat chef's table, was installed in Empellón Cocina in May 2015. The second restaurant in Alex Stupak's Empellon Group, Empellón Cocina, opened in the East Village at 105 First Avenue in February 2012. Stupak, a pioneering former pastry chef at WD-50 and Alinea took up Mexican food when he opened his first restaurant, Empellón, which he later renamed Empellón Taqueria in 2011.
