Paris - Champ de Mars: Le Mur pour La Paix and Eiffel Tower

The Wall for Peace, conceived by the artist Clara Halter and spatially installed by the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, was erected in Paris, on the Champ de Mars on March 30, 2000 by the President of the French Republic.

Visitors can put their messages of peace in the chinks of the Wall. The Wall for Peace also contains thirty monitors connected to the Internet network, displaying messages of peace submitted remotely.

Measuring 9 meters high by 16.4 meters long and 13.8 meters wide, the installation was inspired by the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. The glass, the stainless steel and the exotic wood are meant to serve the pure, symmetric and transparent space. Thirty-two columns in stainless steel complete the whole.
