UNMISS workshop in Gondokoro dedicated to better protection of civilians by means of early warning systems

JUBA, 17 July 2025: Many displaced families in Gondokoro are unable to return home due to the persistent threat posed by armed cattle herders, who have taken over farmland and instilled fear among residents.

In response, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) united the host community, displaced persons and cattle keepers to develop early warning systems and plans to enable the return of displaced people to their homes.

While the government and UNMISS can contribute to safe returns and dialogue, achieving lasting peace relies on the reconciliation among communities and accountability for perpetrators of unlawful, disruptive activities.
