Operation Western Area Surge

A family in Moyinba, which has just lost one member of their family to Ebola, is visited by Sahr Brima Sewa is a Disease Survellance Officer from the Ward 362 working for the "Operation Western Area Surge".

The National Ebola Response Centre (NERC) started in Freetown a special operation in the Western Area to control the current rate of infection and stop the spread of the disease in the region.

This intervention is called "Operation Western Area Surge". It encourages people to come forward if they have a fever or other symptoms of Ebola and call 117 for help at an early stage.

With the support of UNMEER and partners, the NERC has positioned beds, laboratories, ambulances, health workers, social mobilization support and other logistics required to successfully implement this two weeks exercise, which starts on Wednesday, 17 December 2014.
