1 Series - Cape Stance
I was hoping to have more of my photos from Africa done by now, but as you can tell it's taking a little while. At least I'm getting my hard drives all re-arranged and organized.
Cape Town, S. Africa was a highlight in itself with this trip. I met a super cute model from L.A, went cage diving with great whites, and was able to come across some of the local car scene. When I've traveled I've always tried to find little meets and such to see how they are compared to here in the states, or rather even here on the East Coast.
I asked my tour bus driver who actually was into Nissans - and he mentioned if I ran down to the beach front right as we arrived I might be able to find some local cars before the sunset. He was right. I took in the view more than snapping photos as some of the older cars and even the mk1 Volkswagens were everywhere. Slammed mini trucks that would be "imports" for us and the like.
I came across this bagged 1 series parked with a few other cars that caught my eye. On IG the user is @lilbratwp. They have the same shit we do - fake wheels everywhere, the rare and legit parts hard to get, but for them even harder as they have to pay import/customs fees since it still hasn't "taken off" like in other countries. Since I didn't want to come across as a crazy person - I ended up having to show someone on their own phone my car on instagram, since my phone had died just that morning and I didn't have a chance to restore it yet.
I'm sure I'm rambling here, but it's always a great experience meeting other enthusiasts. I wish I had more time to take photos of the cars, and I arrived late missing a bunch of air cooled cars. The scenery in Cape Town is fantastic - the tuner cars obviously a little harder to find - but any automotive photographer would be in heaven with some of the locations I drove through out there.
