The Rising Tide - sculptures by Jason deCaires Taylor
Commissioned as part of the Totally Thames festival, Taylor's sculptures sit on the southern shoreline of the river and are submerged during high tide. The low tide reveals the horses, which have oilwell pumps for heads and on two of which sit men in suits and tie, just upstream from the Houses of Parliament. Taylor says -
“I quite like the idea that the piece sits in the eye line of the place where many politicians and so many people who are involved in climate change all work and make these damaging deals and policies, yet who are in this state of mad denial”.
