May Brothers Wholesale Grocers Building - Fremont, NE
Built in 1881 to house the offices and warehouse of the May Brothers wholesale grocery business. An 1886 addition to the rear made the building an L-shape and one of the largest buildings in the Fremont Historic Commercial District.
Greek immigrant James Petrow, who arrived in Omaha in 1904, purchased the building in 1920 and the building was renamed the Petrow Building. The building was leased to the Kresge department store chain in 1924 and they remained there until closing in 1969.
