Untouched wilderness

Spiking the interest of a work colleague after my previous trip I organised another canyoning day to introduce them to the untouched wilderness of the Blue Mountains. Jacks rose early about 5:30am in excited expectation of the day’s events.

About five hours later we arrived at the start point. Pulling the car up on a small dirt road in the middle of nowhere we hopped out. The look on her face was priceless. "So where's the track!"

Of course there is no track and that's part of the fun. Heading down a steep slope we entered the canyon and made out way deeper into the ravine. Tall ferns and carved sandstone walls enhance the feeling of isolation and true wilderness. Finally we arrived at this pool which, having seen it on my previous posted shot, lived up to her expectation.

The canyon continued on through some interesting formations to a final abseil. Then the bush bash up the gully and eventually up onto the ridge to walk out. For someone who had never done it before this was a great achievement. And for me, every day out here is golden!
