Fort Phantom Hill
Fort Phantom Hill was a mid-19th Century Army outpost north of Abilene, Texas. The fort was established in 1851 to protect settlers from Native American attacks in the area. The fort was used by the U.S. and Confederate armies and also served as a way station for the Butterfield Stagecoach. A few outbuildings, chimneys and stone foundations remain of the long-abandoned fort.
