Polystichum lonchitis. Holly-fern. Suippohärkylä.

Species lonchitis Greek "lonches" means (lance, spear). This name was used as a name of a plant already by Dioskorides och Plinius.

Genus Polystichum Greek "polys" (many) and "stikhos" (row), which may refer to sporangia groups.

There are only a couple of places in Finland one can find this plant growing. Its leaves feel like man made material (plastic).
