A Manatee with it's typical paddle-like tail
A final look at the Manatees at River Wonders Singapore. Unlike Dugongs, Manatees have paddle like tails, like this one here, which is different from Dugongs, which have fluked tails, like whales. Manatees are herbivores and eat over 60 different freshwater and saltwater plants. Manatees inhabit the shallow, marshy coastal areas and rivers of the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, the Amazon basin, and West Africa. Detailed notes about Manatees and about the River Wonders park itself appear elsewhere in this album- see previous and subsequent pictures. (Singapore, Sept. 2023)
