Having left Whitycombe Valley Park, Exeter, dropped down into the urban landscape, I'm now back in countryside on a path leading towards Barley Valley Park. This is the view looking back towards Whitycombe Valley Park on the adjacent hill. The walk to get to here is somewhat circuitous, as no path directly connects the two valley parks. Having said that, the route is hardly arduous.

A brief description of today's walk:-

I noted in the local free newspaper for Exeter that there was a 'Whitycombe Valley Park' that I had not previously known of. That inspired me to discover it. I parked my bicycle at Exwick Cemetery, by the chapel, and set off for this valley park. There are in fact 6 of these valley parks dotted around Exeter. Today, after visiting Whitycombe Valley Park for the first time, and having a picnic lunch there, I then made across the back of Exwick for an old favourite of mine, Barley Valley Park. A hot day's walking, but most enjoyable.
