Val di Non - Lago di Santa Giustina

Lake Santa Giustina is an artificial basin located in the center of Val di Non, in Trentino. It is mainly fed by the waters of the Noce stream.

 

The lake is the largest artificial basin in Trentino and the one with the largest volume of water among all the lakes in the region [1]. The capacity of the reservoir is 182 million cubic meters, and its waters are used to drive the 34.5 MW turbines of the Taio underground power plant.

 

The imposing Santa Giustina dam, 152.50 m high, was inaugurated in 1951 and at the time was the highest in Europe. The construction took 5 years of work and more than 110 000 cubic meters of concrete.
