What caused this separation? Some creature dragging its feet over the stone, a sudden temperature drop, or perhaps intelligent design?
I have, in the past mentioned that the mysterious substance flint, in its various forms, seems to be the perfect material for Man to discover and use to begin his long journey toward nuclear annihilation.
Spotting this little vignette on the lakeshore, I began to wonder, "Could ancient Man have seen something like this long, long ago, and said to himself, 'Hey, I could do that!', and embark on his first attempts at toolmaking?"
