Mark Mahaffey

Mark Mahaffety is a brilliant watercolorist. He was one of Penny's instructors at Lansing Community College. His paintings at the time we shot this were very Oriental in their composition and style, I thought. (Surely, a specialist in Japanese or Oriental art would call me uninformed and probably wouldn't be far off!) Mark's work was highly saleable — perfect, I thought, for hanging in corporate office space. It was clean and bright and colorful and pleasant.

Mark's portrait was one of only two re-shoots. I was terribly dissatisfied with the first attempt and re-thought what I wanted to do. Clean and bright and pleasant (and, I suppose, a little corporate) was what I decided upon.
