Oxford United's football stadium (1)
The Kassam Stadium, on the south-eastern outskirts of the city, has been the home of Oxford United since 2001. It is named after the former chairman of the club, Firoz Kassam, who still owns the stadium and leisure facilities around it although he is no longer involved in the football club.
This is the North Stand viewed from the East Stand before the start of the game against Mansfield Town on 17 April 2010.
The construction of the stadium was delayed by financial and legal problems in the late 1990s. It was opened with stands on only three sides, with a capacity of 12500. As the club had fallen to the fourth tier of English football (now known as 'League Two'), and was then relegated out of the league to the Conference ('Blue Square Premier'), there are no active plans to build a fourth stand at the open end.
The club previously played at the Manor Ground in the suburb of Headington. It was the scene of many memorable games, especially in the mid-1980s when Oxford United rose to Division 1 (equivalent to the Premier League) for three seasons.

The Manor Ground has now been redeveloped as a private hospital.
