Middleton Park
A short walk from Park Halt at the top of our line is Middleton Park. There are a number of interesting archealogical remains in the park including hundreds of early coal workings, the dips in the ground that can be seen all over the park being old pits. Many of the park's paths were once early waggonways to take the coal to the railway and onward to Leeds and the River Aire.
As well as the historic interest the park also features ancient woodland and in spring we have the Bluebell walks.
For other events in the park see the Friends of Middleton Park website www.fomp.co.uk volunteers will meet the train on some events so you can combine a visit to the railway with a walk in the park.
