McClures Beach, Point Reyes National Seashore, California

Sitting out on the cliffs on the south end of McClures Beach is something I could do everyday.... Waves crashing along the rocks. Seals napping not far away as others bob up and down in the water. Pelicans dive bombing into the sea for dinner. You wouldn't know this was all going on while I made this image but it was. So many things to watch! Not to mention the fast moving clouds as the sun set behind them. It may not have been the perfect lighting for faster shutter speeds but it was still a perfect day.

As I said a few images back in my stream, I love making extra long exposures. Sitting back, watching everything around me all while capturing this extended moment in time in one still image. The result is less than realistic but still pleasing.

This is one of three images I came away with. Each one had something unique about it. One was a little dark but the tones on the water from the light on the right was perfect. The other lacked the detail of the curving white water trail. This image seemed to have the best balance of light and detail so I spent a few minutes adjusting the RAW image and came up with this. No HDR or layers used on this.... Just a 10 stop solid ND and a 1 & 3 stop ND grad.
